What's New with BSAP Everyone Has a Role in Chapel Chaplain Stephanie Jenkins I 'm proud that there was a small group of Episcopalians who were at the core of the dream of Bishop Seabury over 20 years ago, and I recognize and value that Episcopalians are a minority of the faith tradition represented here. As Dr. Schawang shared during our faculty workshop, I too believe the Episcopal Church has a unique way of approaching faith. As an Episcopal priest, I am rooted in the specifics; however, there are broad principles that I believe can reach beyond. My view related to chapel is that everyone has a role. Maybe your role is to sit and be present or to read a lesson. Maybe you receive a blessing at communion. Either way, I want you to engage with chapel as you feel is authentic to you. What is most important is that you are present as a member of the community. My hope is that chapel on Wednesday morning is a contemplative space to look inward and be nurtured so that we can then turn and look outward together. While I have ideas and thoughts about how to approach leading chapel and serving as chaplain at Bishop Seabury, I'm really feeling my way into and through this role. In all of this, I'm coming to understand more deeply the culture and history of Bishop Seabury. It's out of that, I can help foster and develop chapel experiences and pastoral relationships that are integrated and representative of the community and connect with the community's needs, so please reach out!
