3 Lambda Chi Alpha T h e C a m p a i g n f o r A l p h a ‑ D e l t a Z e t a R . Gregg Bonagurio '78 has nothing but wonderful memories about Lambda Chi Alpha. In fact, he said those four years were "the best experience other than the birth of my children." Being a part of the Fraternity was a great deal of work, but the growth he had as a person was invaluable. He met Greg Mueller '75 and Rick Petri '75 in grade school and knew they were wonderful men. "They explained to me that I would be a part of a group of people with like values, and that my college experience would not only be better socially, but academically," Gregg says. "It definitely proved to be the case!" It didn't matter if it was during a philanthropic event or just hanging out in the Chapter House— being around his brothers was enough to fill a lifetime of memories. Greg understands that the Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future campaign is more than just a campaign to renovate the Chapter House; it's a campaign to ensure there will be future generations of Alpha-Delta Zetas. "The future of the house rests on the people we recruit," Gregg says. "It brings quality people to the brotherhood." The current state of the Chapter House is not fit for modern times, as it needs to be functional, comfortable, up to date, and appealing. He would love to see other brothers step up and contribute to the campaign, as he believes it's necessary for the renovations to be completed as soon as possible. Gregg believes in the importance of maintaining the brotherly ties as he keeps in contact with Bruce Colborn '80, Mike Johnson '80, and Sam Massey '78. He and his wife, Jan, live in Houston, Texas. They have three children: Michael, David, and Christine. When he's not working as an oil and gas consultant, he enjoys running, racquetball, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchild. E-mail: gbonagurio@yahoo.com T he brothers of Alpha-Delta Zeta had a successful spring semester and we are excited for this fall. We accomplished many great feats in the spring; most notably was our GPA. Our members pulled together with hard work to achieve a GPA of 3.34, the highest I've ever heard of for our Chapter. We are constantly trying to better ourselves in any way possible and this past semester showcases the work we have been putting in. Successful Philanthropic Events We hosted several events at the Chapter House in the spring, including the St. Pat's celebration, Apple Polishers, and Watermelon Bash. During our St. Pat's celebration, the Chapter and House Corporation came together to discuss the current state of the Chapter and its future. We welcomed several alumni from near and far for the celebration and to show them how much the Chapter has grown. Brenden Cunningham '18, academic chairman, hosted our Apple Polishers dinner in late April to honor faculty and brothers. We also presented our faculty advisor, Jerri Arnold Cook, with an award for her four years (starting her fifth) of service to our Fraternity. She has been amazing to work with and is constantly helping our brothers better themselves in any way she can. Our High Theta, Patrick Coday '18, brought back the classic Lambda Chi Alpha Watermelon Bash. We had fun with Omega Sigma sorority participating in some small watermelon-themed competitions, Alumnus Encourages Brothers to Give Back R. We raised nearly $1,000 worth of cans and donations for the Food Bank of Central and Northwest Missouri. 16 Associate Members I have to give a big thank-you to all the brothers and alumni who helped with recruitment this year and especially to our recruitment chairman, Nathan Vitek '18. After all the hard work put in, we nearly have a full house with a current total of 16 signed new recruits. This is a great leg up for us for the new Chapter House, making it easier to fill when renovations are completed. Construction Begins Lastly, after several years of planning, construction on the Chapter House has finally begun! It began in late May and already so much has happened. Some of the main focus points for the summer construction were getting a new sprinkler system, HVAC, clearing earth, and laying new foundation for the additions. Our beloved deck has been torn down as well as the front veranda. The new project room where the deck was is coming up fast and should be done around mid- to late October. We look forward to Homecoming on October 15 to welcome all alumni and show them the progress that is being made on the house. If you would like any information about the Chapter or house in general, please feel free to contact me or check out our website and Facebook page.
