Always Alpha Phi 4 • A Semester in Review • Omicron wrapped up another great year at Mizzou and continued to excel in our Panhellenic community. We are proud to look back and to know we are growing stronger each semester! • Informal Recruitment and Bid Day • Our members returned from winter break eager to welcome new sisters through informal recruitment. Omicron takes full advantage of being able to participate in continuous open bidding (COB) and loves to demonstrate why we love calling Alpha Phi home. After hours of strategic planning by VP of Membership Recruitment Skylar Suppes '14 and the COB team, we initiated 13 incredible women. New Member Educator Natalie Cundiff '14 hosted a spring Bid Day to celebrate these new members with the theme We're All Mad for Alpha Phi. Formal recruitment this fall came to a close when 72 new members opened their bid cards on Faurot Field on August 21. We welcomed them home and celebrated them finding A Whole New World in Alpha Phi! • Record Philanthropy • Omicron had a record semester philanthropically, raising nearly $50,000 during our annual Red Dress Weekend. During Greek Week, we were paired with the men of TKE and cheered on our team at the sporting events throughout the week. Our skit, themed Family Reunion, was a hit! We celebrated our moms by hosting another fun-filled Mom's Weekend, renting out the Déjà Vu comedy club in downtown Columbia. On Saturday, members and moms shopped different vendors at the house and painted wine glasses before visiting a winery for the day. • Leadership and Achievements • Omicron demonstrated strong leadership on campus with several sisters holding positions in MU organizations. Sandeep Banghu '13 held a prominent leadership position as Tri-Director of Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA). With her dedication to this organization and her encouragement of our members' participation, our chapter placed second overall in the annual Greek competition and won an Excellence in Programming award. Haley Leopold '13 was chosen to serve on the Steering Committee for Mizzou's 2016 Homecoming. These women are only a small number of those from our chapter who make a difference at Mizzou. In June, I attended Alpha Phi's 71st Biennial Convention, where I had the honor of accepting several awards. Omicron placed in the top three for Most Improved Recruitment and won Excellence in COB. We also received an award based on alumnae engagement—Omicron's alumnae volunteer with Alpha Phi more than ANY other chapter's alumnae! • Fall Preview • Omicron's fall calendar is filling up quickly. Sisters are getting back into the swing of things and Tiger football is right around the corner. We will host Dad's Weekend on September 23 and are preparing for Mizzou's Homecoming on October 22. We have our annual sisterhood retreat planned as well as service events with our sister sorority. We will also raise funds for the Alpha Phi Foundation through a late night food event at the house. Columbia residents, please feel free to join us! • Thank You! • I extend every alumna a huge thank you. It is because of all of you that our members can enjoy these events and have the privilege of being a part of such a special sisterhood. You are the roots of our chapter and serve as perfect examples of how this is not just four years, but for life. It is a privilege serving as president of a chapter that has such special alumnae. Thank you for continuing to support Omicron and helping it grow into something special—a place where hundreds of girls get the chance to call home every year. Loyally Yours, Hannah M.
