The event, which drew three teams from Shasta County and two teams in Butte County to play against three Tehama County teams, had about 100 athletes in- volved, said Tehama County Spe- cial Olympics head softball coach Ken Hess who coaches the Te- hama Hot Shots. "A great time was had by all and it could not have ran any smoother thanks to all our coaches and volunteers," said Ken Hess. A call was received at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday of several vehicles hitting multiple rocks north of Antelope Boulevard and California High- way Patrol officers responded to find two big rigs,a pickup pull- ing a trailer and two sedans in- volved in the incident, said CHP Public Information Officer Troy Somavia. While investigating the multi- vehicle collision, officers lo- cated a broken cinder block on the right shoulder of the north- bound lanes just past the Adobe Road over-crossing. There were two more stones ranging 30-40 pounds with tire marks on them found in the median and a larger 40-pound stone found under- neath one of the involved vehi- cles, Somavia said. Cedar Crest Vineyards, at 32505 Forward Road, was one of the stops where Superior Father Inno- cent and Alexis were assisted by Shea Kolar in sprinkling holy wa- ter while singing and praying over the harvest, said Corey Livingston who owns the vineyard with her husband Jim Livingston. A few miles up the road around 10 people, mostly family and friends of Carol and Lorna Knedler, gathered at their Shasta Daisy Vineyard, 35100 Forward Road, said Joel Reinhard of Red Bluff, who attended the event. To participate in the show- case and have a unique "junk" robot creation displayed at the fair an entry form, which is lo- cated in the fair's premium book, is due to the fair office at 650 Antelope Blvd. by 5 p.m. Friday. "This year we plan to build upon what was started at last year's showcase," said Syerra Eickmeyer, Tehama County De- partment of Education Maker- space lead and project special- ist. "We want to encourage the community to stop by and see the Junk Robot Exhibit, be a part of our exciting new work- shops and get involved in what's happening at the 2016 Maker Showcase at the Tehama Dis- trict Fair." The Maker Showcase is of- fering up a unique opportu- nity for people to get their hands dirty, according to a re- lease from Eickmeyer. Those involved in making the show- case happen are asking partic- ipants to put together a unique junk robot using old parts and pieces that would otherwise be thrown away.
