Thefollowingdefendants were sentenced in Tehama County Superior Court, ac- cording to the Tehama County District Attorney's Office: RecentState/Local PrisonCommitments: People v. James Wright Resisting Executive Officer and admitted Prior Strike; Dismissed with plea in other case Brief history: RBPD Of- ficers were on foot patrol in the City Park when they noticed an unattended car parked that had expired reg- istration.Uponfurtherinves- tigation, officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle who was the defen- dant'sfather.Thedefendant's fathercontactedhissonwho arrived on scene. When the defendantarrivedhewasag- gressiveandcalledotherpeo- ple over to fight the officers. The defendant was uncoop- erative when officers asked him to leave. The defendant took a fighting stance and told the officers, "Do some- thing about it." The defen- dant continuedto calltheof- ficers"pigs"andtoldtheoffi- cers, "Don't worry I got you." Defendant told one officer, "I am going to get my home- boys and take care of you." The officer asked the defen- dant if that was a threat, the defendant responded, "That is a promise." Sentenced to 6 years state prison. People v. Jennifer Haug, Unlawful Driving or Taking of a Vehicle with A Prior; Of- fense Committed while on O.R.; Unlawful Driving of Taking of a Vehicle with a Prior Brief history: A person parked their Ford F-150 at Chevron to buy a pack of cig- arettesandlefttheir44-year- old disabled son in the car. The defendant had a blood alcohol content of 0.295, got in the car and the defendant started to drive the car away through the parking lot. The victim and disabled child were yelling. The defendant then got out of the car and started to run away. The de- fendant was later found at Starbucks. Defendant had a suspended driver's license and was out on bail for an- other case. In the second case, a CHP Officer saw a truck driven by the defen- dantontheI-5northfreeway that was dragging a black metal tailgate and speeding at 87 mph. The defendant would not open the passen- ger window or door. The de- fendant then got out of the carwith traffic approaching. The defendant admitted to drinking and was extremely combative with the officer. The defendant refused field sobriety tests and insisted that she be taken to jail. The truck the defendant had beendrivingwasreportedto RBPD as stolen just 30 min- utes prior to the traffic stop. The defendant had a blood alcohol content of 0.28. Sentenced to 3 years state prison plus 2 years state prison in the second case to runconcurrenttoeachother. People v. Cynthia Bishop, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Brief history: A witness drove the victim to a house to retrieve some belongings. Whenthevictimwent inside the house to get her things, the situation escalated be- tween the defendant and the victim. The defendant chasedthevictimbacktothe witness's truck and then be- gan hitting the victim in the face with a large rock. The defendant also hit the wind- shield of the truck with the rock. Sentenced to 3 years state prison. People v. Jake Whitlock, Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling; Shooting at Unoc- cupied Vehicle; Discharge of a Firearm with Gross Negli- gence; Possession of a Short- Barreled Riffle or Shotgun Brief history: TCSO re- ceived a report that the de- fendant had been poisoned. TCSO arrived on scene and saw the defendant was cut up and bloody and the prop- erty was shot up. There were two residences on the prop- ertythatbelongtothedefen- dant's father that were shot up. There were also three ve- hicles on the property that were shot up as well. The de- fendant fired about 20 shots from a shotgun. One shot- gun is a short barrel. The defendanttoldTCSOthathis grandfather had died and he is very upset with his father, so he shot up the property. Sentenced to 5 years for- mal probation, 365 days jail, 7yearsstateprisonexecution suspended, and placed into Adult Felon Drug Court. People v. Frank Roehrich andGeraldRoehrich,Jr.,Pre- venting of Dissuading From Attending or Giving Testi- mony; Accessory plus Prior Serious Felony Brief history: Frank was in jail for a prior domestic violence incident in which he broke his girlfriend's nose. The victim was living in Frank's trailer with his brother,Gerald.Frankcalled the victim from jail and told her not to talk to the District Attorney or the police. Ger- ald visited Frank in jail and they discussed how Frank's only chance is for the victim not to show up in court. Ger- ald agreed and told Frank that, "he will take care of it." Victim claimed that Gerald told her numerous times to avoid receiving any subpoe- nas and not to testify. Gerald was sentencedto4 yearsstateprison.Frankwas sentenced to 2 years consec- utive to his 12 year sentence in the Domestic Violence case for a total of 14 years in state prison. RecentCountyJail Commitments: People v. Tyler Goodwin, Assault by Means Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury Brief history: The defen- dant and the victim in this case were married with one child in common. The defen- dant got into an argument with the victim in their car in the parking lot at Food- Maxx.Onewitnessheardthe victim yelling and the defen- dant yelling at her. A second witness went with the first witnesstocheckoutthecom- motion and saw the defen- dant with his arms around victim's throat and the vic- tim trying to pull the defen- dant's hands off. When the police arrive, the victim was cryingandhasstrangulation marks around her neck. The defendant denied anything physical happened and said thatitwas"justanargument over grocery stuff." The vic- tim told police that this has happened10timesbeforebut was never reported. The vic- tim claimed that the defen- dant liked to strangle her during their arguments and that he also pushed her face into the passenger window during this argument. This entireincidentoccurredwith two small children present. Sentenced to 180 days Te- hama County Jail with 4 years execution suspended and formal probation. People v. Lydia Tupper, FirstDegreeResidentialBur- glary; Second Degree Bur- glary Brief history: On October 22, 2015, the defendant pos- sessed about $1,000 worth of gun parts and miscella- neous property taken from an attached garage. The defendant was found in the backyard of the house and claimed the property was given to her. Evidence showed that the defendant found a garage door opener hidden on the side of the house and used it to open thegarage.Later,onOctober 28, 2015, the defendant stole ametalwagonfromoneyard and drill bits from another. The defendant damaged a fence in a third yard as well. Sentenced to Adult Felon Drug Court with 90 days Te- hama County Jail. People v. Miguel Moreno, Corporal Injury to a Cohab- itant Brief history: The defen- dant and the victim were in a dating relationship for 6 years and have two small kids together. The defen- dant sent a text message to the victim while she was at work and accused her of cheating on him. When the victimgothome,boththede- fendant and victim got into an argument and then the defendant left. The victim then texted the defendant to come back home because he is overreacting and put his belongingsbythedoor.Later that night, the defendant re- turned home and the vic- tim told him to take his per- sonal belongings and leave. The defendant refused to leave without taking every- thing he bought for the vic- tim. The defendant grabbed the victim's left hand and ripped the bracelets off of her wrist. The victim then pushed the defendant and the defendant responded by pushing the victim on the bed and grabbed her by her throat while their two year- old was on the bed. The vic- tim was afraid that the de- fendant was going to hit her and asked, "are you going to hit me with your daugh- ter in the room?" The de- fendant stopped and the victim called 9-1-1. As the victim called 9-1-1 the defen- dant pushed her and left the house. The victim suffered injuries that included: bruis- ing, and a bloody cut on the heel of her foot. Sentenced to 270 days in theTehamaCountyJailwith 5 years Formal Probation. People v. Brook Bonner, Evading an Officer Brief history: On August 12, 2015, RBPD was called because the reporting party said that a car involved in a robbery of her husband the day before was outside of their house. RBPD was close by when they observed the defendant drive by. The of- ficer tried to make a traffic stop but the defendant took off and refused to stop. Dur- ing the chase, the defendant was driving on the wrong side of the road, pulled into a property and collided with an occupied trailer. The de- fendant got out of the car andcontinuedtofleeonfoot. While running away, the de- fendant was attacked by a German shepherd. When the defendant was finally ar- rested, he had dog bites on him and a fresh scratch on his chin. On May 12, 2016, a trial by jury found the defendant guiltyofEvadingaPoliceOf- ficer. The defendant admit- ted his three prison priors. Sentenced to 370 days in theTehamaCountyJailwith 5 years Formal Probation andAdultFelonDrugCount. People v. James Hansen, Carrying a Dirk or Dagger; Failure to Appear on Own Recognizance Brief history: In case the first case, a Corning Police Department Officer recog- nized and contacted the de- fendant, whom he knew had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. The defendant hadafixed-bladeknifeonhis person along with 0.3 grams gross of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket. The de- fendant admitted to having everything that was found. In the second case, the de- fendant failed to appear on his own recognizance while out on bail. Sentenced to 3 years For- mal Probation, 120 days in Tehama County Jail, and 80 hours community service. People v. David Vance, Bring Contraband into Jail Briefhistory:Theunderly- ingcaseoccurredonSeptem- ber 2, 2013, involved a victim whonoticedhisaircompres- sor was missing and the de- fendant advertising the air compressor for sale on "Red Bluff Needs." RBPD made contact with the defendant whoclaimedthathewassell- ingtheaircompressorforhis brother. The defendant had 1.5 grams of methamphet- amineonhispersonandcon- cealedaneedleinhisrectum when he was searched at the Tehama County Jail. Subsequently, on Septem- ber 22, 2014, the defendant was sentenced to 11 years and four months. The first five years and eight months were to be served in county jail and the remaining five yearsandeightmonthswere to be served on mandatory supervision. Later, the defendant vio- lated the terms of his man- datory supervision when he failed to report to the proba- tion department as directed and failed to inform the pro- bation officer of the address of his residence. The defen- dant admitted to violating the terms of his mandatory supervision. Sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in Tehama County Jail. People v. Miguel Pascual- Romero, Corporal Injury to a Spouse Brief history: The defen- dant and victim have been dating for about five years, live together and have five small daughters. The de- fendant and the victim be- gan arguing in the bedroom while the children were all in the living room watching TV. The defendant grabbed the victim by the back of the neck and pushed her face down 20-30 seconds against the mattress. The victim fought to get the defendant off of her and tried to grab his genitals. The victim was abletofinallypullawayfrom thedefendantandthedefen- dant immediately punched her in the face causing a large bump on her forehead. The defendant admitted to the incident. Sentenced to 5 years For- mal Probation with Domes- tic Violence Terms, 120 days Tehama County Jail, 80 hours community service, and to have no negative con- tact with the victim. Sentencing: November 16, 2016 at 1:30 pm in Depart- ment 2 People vs. Poly Duenas Sanchez,LucioNeneciaMad- era, Gabino Madera, Murder with Special Allegation-Per- sonal and Intentional Dis- charge of a Firearm, GBI, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime with Special Alle- gation-Personal and Inten- tional Discharge of a Fire- arm, GBI. Brief history: The Victim had met up with the three Defendantsregardingmoney that was allegedly owed to the victim. During this con- frontation the victim was chased down and shot twice with a shotgun. The victim died as a result of his inju- ries. PTC:September19,at3:30 pm in Department 2 TBJ: October 19, at 9 am (Department to be Deter- mined) People vs. John Noonk- ester,Willful,Deliberateand Premeditated Murder with Special Allegation, Personal and Intentional Discharge of a Firearm, GBI (2 counts); Attempt: Willful, Deliber- ate and Premeditated Mur- der with Special Allegation, PersonalandIntentionalDis- charge of a Firearm, GBI. Brief history: The Defend- ant is charged with shooting and killing his ex-wife and her father, and shooting a bystander. One of the defendants would drive the victim to Gridleysothathecouldhave sex with another defendant on weekends.
