Even before starting his run as Rafael on "Jane the Virgin," the actor was producing and hosting an online documentary series titled "My Last Days," in which terminally ill individ- uals talk about their situ- ations and experiences. The venture is now getting broadcast-network expo- sure with new episodes, which The CW will air two per night in hour-long installments Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 17 through 19. It also has inspired the launch of a new digital channel, CW- GOOD, which will offer extended versions of the episodes. "It's been a pretty mi- raculous journey," reflects Baldoni, who has made "My Last Days" through his production company Wayfarer. "I had left the acting business because, frankly, I had a really hard go of it. My first love was always creating and telling stories, and I left acting to do 'My Last Days,' this little documentary show that would possibly air to no one on YouTube. I dedicated my life for over a year to telling the stories of these incredible people who were giving me their most valuable asset in their last days ... which was their time." Among those profiled in "My Last Days," found from coast to coast through such means as blogs and social-media searches: cystic fibrosis patient Claire, who creat- ed a foundation to support others with that condition; gospel singer Kendrick, whose rare form of sleep apnea hasn't kept him from trying to finish his fourth album; Kat, deter- mined to keep living life on her own terms despite stomach cancer; and "Darth Vader," whose leu- kemia hasn't deterred him from completing numerous half-marathons and Tough Mudder competitions.
