Up & Coming Weekly had a chance to chat with them recently. UCW: Who are the band members and what instru- ments do they play? LF: Jason Cooper is the vocalist, Matt Ivey plays lead guita, James Fuller is our drummer, Tim Peele plays the bass and Chris Uber is our rhythm guitarist. UCW: Give us a brief history of your group. LF: It all began in Laurinburg, N.C. during the summer of 2007. What began as a few friends jamming in a living room came full circle with the addi- tion of Matt and Jason and Loudwater Fury was born. UCW: How did the band get its name? LF: When James, Chris, and Tim first began hanging out and jamming, they also loved to sit around and play video games during breaks. Loudwater Fury is a special move for one of the characters of one of those games. It was a devastating attack that completely obliterated any enemy in the player's sights. It was so brutal we thought it would only be fitting to make it the name of our band. UCW: How would you define your music? LF: Our music is layered with an arsenal of heavy rhythms, a plethora of solos, earth-splitting bass lines, masterful percussion, and intense vocals. UCW: Who are your favorite bands/influences on your music? LF: Pantera, old-school Metallica, Lamb of God. There are others, but mostly we try to make our own sound. We define our music. UCW: Do you write your own music and where does that inspiration come from? LF: We do write our own music. Our inspiration comes from many different things. The one thing is we try to have fun so we try not to write anything too serious and we try not to focus too much on any one thing. We don't limit our- selves creatively, and as long as we all agree on an idea we go with it. Loudwater Fury is a democracy where everyone's input is important. There are no Prima Donnas in this band. UCW: If you only had two words to describe your band what would they be? LF: Loudwater Fury! UCW: What are your hopes/goals for the future of your band? LF: We hope to have our debut album recorded before the end of summer. After that we are going to keep playing shows wherever we can and spreading the love that is Loudwater. We are working on some more improvements to our stage show also and we'll definitely keep writing new material. We know the market is saturated with bands right now and we want to make sure the people that do come out to see us get the most bang for their buck. UCW: Where do you see the band five years, 10 years from now? LF: I do not know if we even want to look that far ahead. As a band we pretty much live in the now and we'll let the cards fall where they do. If we start looking ahead too far we will start making the mistake of trying to please others with our music. We all feel that we need to focus on writing music we think it will be badass. If we focus on making music we enjoy then other metal fans will dig it. UCW: Where can Fayetteville music lovers check you in the near future? LF: We are playing the Rock Shop on February 26 with Sidaerial and Bound & Gagged so come on out and gitcha sumthin' ta drink!!!!
