Our Needs and Opportunities W hile the Delta Gamma experience is certainly more than the physical structure of a chapter house, a home for our chapter will undoubtedly play a significant role in the development of our sisters and serve as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. BUILDING A NEW HOME Alpha Omega's previous home on Maple Street currently houses offices for University Development and is owned by the University of Arkansas. Delta Gamma Fraternity and Alpha Omega volunteers did consider the possibility of purchasing the home back, but after much deliberation and assessment, it was concluded that the land and the house would not be competitive or be able to house over 80 women and provide a meeting space to safely fit over 400 members. Just as every effort will be made to support the success of Alpha Omega's recolonization, every effort must also be made to provide a safe, competitive facility for Alpha Omega's newest sisters. PURSUING EXCELLENCE The University of Arkansas is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced, quiet, well-lit and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now necessities, including personal computers, high- speed internet access, email and more. Our plan will ensure that Alpha Omega excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek community. SETTING OURSELVES APART For Alpha Omega to attract some of the top women at the University of Arkansas, we know that we must provide a chapter facility that is competitive with other sororities on campus. Several sororities have recently built or renovated their chapter houses at Arkansas; Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi and Alpha Omicron Pi are just a few of the updated facilities in Fayetteville. We must also compete with the amenities offered in newly renovated on-campus residence halls and off-campus apartments. In summary, to meet the needs of our newest members and to solidify our legacy on campus, we must build a new home to ensure the Alpha Omega chapter is offering a first-class facility to our collegiate sisters.
