Leading at Florida State Since 1904 A s the first sorority founded at Florida State, Kappa Alpha has always been a premier leader on campus and within Kappa Delta. With more than 3,000 initiates, our Chapter nurtures and sustains women during some of the most formative years of their lives, cultivating lasting friendships in the process. As alumnae, we can trace some of our best college memories back to our KD experience. While there may be some differences in today's Chapter compared to the one you knew, there is an unbroken chain of Kappa Delta members at Florida State University. More than ever, sororities play a significant role in the development of young women and this growth is crucial in today's competitive world. In addition to the standards taught by our sisterhood, we acquired valuable skills, such as leadership, social, and teamwork—to name a few. Over the years, these traits have helped us to be successful in both our personal and professional lives and have shaped us into the women we are today. Our Chapter House at 555 West Jefferson Street is clearly an integral component of undergraduate life for Kappa Alpha KDs. It is a home away from home for our members, full of fond memories and familiar faces. Our facility also serves as a classroom where our sisters have learned to lead on the FSU campus, in our communities, and in their own professional lives. If we wish for Kappa Delta to continue its strong presence on the Florida State campus, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and competitive facility to accommodate our growing undergraduate Chapter. As Kappa Alphas, we have been entrusted with perpetuating this tradition of excellence—now is the time to secure our future. Not only has Kappa Alpha excelled at FSU, but an impressive three sisters have gone on to serve Kappa Delta as National Presidents. Elizabeth Corbett Gilberts 1919-1921 Clementine Newan Militzer 1939-1945 Beth Martin Langford 2009-2015 " " Kappa Delta is for a lifetime. I choose to stay involved with Kappa Delta because it is one small way I can give back all that KD has given me: confidence, leadership, and lifelong friendships. I am supporting the Tradition of Excellence campaign because I want to be sure that future Kappa Alpha sisters have the same amazing experience I have had. – Beth Martin Langford '78
