SAE e Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon • Auburn University • Summer 2016 Alpha Mu News S ince 1878, more than 1,800 men have been honored by initiation into the Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. ese brothers have established a long tradition of leadership on campus, and as alumni. Our dorms have played an integral part of the fraternity experience, as well as a standing reflection of our values. It has been a welcoming home for our undergraduate men and a reminder of the fond memories of our college experience. Reassessing Housing Needs ere is no doubt that our dorms have served us well for nearly 50 years. However, time has taken its toll on our home. Our membership of nearly150 men has outgrown our facilities and we have had to re-assess our long-term needs. Aer careful consideration and study, the house corporation has determined that new dorms are necessary to meet the needs of today's SAE students and the Auburn fraternity system. We are excited to announce Founded in Tradition, Continuing the Legacy: e Campaign for Alabama Alpha Mu to meet our goals that will propel us forward for our next 50 years and beyond. $1 Million Needed to Construct First-Class Facility At the dawn of this campaign, the house corporation engaged the engineering and architectural services of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, who have had involvement in student housing at Auburn. is will consist of 47 new residential dorm units—single bedrooms with private bathrooms and individual study space. ere will be group educational space in the basement to facilitate brotherhood and academic excellence. In addition, we have placed particular attention on the materials being used to provide a high-quality, durable dorms that will withstand heavy use over many years. Alabama Alpha Mu Needs Your Support To date, early commitments from Sigma Alpha Epsilon alumni, friends, and undergraduates total $453,255. We now seek additional support from our vast, loyal alumni base to reach our $1 million campaign goal. e Founded in Tradition, Continuing the Legacy: e Campaign for Alabama Alpha Mu is honoring our storied past while providing for a brighter future. e generosity of the alumni who came before us paved the way for our SAE experiences—the friendships, memories, opportunities. is is our chance to provide those same experiences for our undergraduate members and future Alabama Alpha Mu brothers.
