4B Daily News – Saturday, June 16, 2012 Religion Faith&Worship Church news God is worthy of our praise Procession for freedom Sacred Heart Catholic Church hosted a Eucharistic Pro- cession for Religious Freedom after Mass June 9. It was held in response to the outcry against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that would force all employers, religious employers includ- ed, to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives, steril- izations and abortifacients. This violates the religious teaching of the Catholic Church and many other religious denominations. Bishop Jaime Soto led a similar procession in Sacramento, and hun- dreds more were held throughout the nation to pray that government leaders will overturn this mandate. Leading the procession, carrying the Holy Eucharist, were Fr. Joyle Martinez, pastor of Sacred Heart, and Fr. George Snyder, pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Redding. Assisting were Sacred Heart's Deacon Jack Bullen and St. Joseph's Deacon David Gassman, along with seminarian Michael Swaine of Redding. The faithful, about 50 in number, processed from Sacred Heart Chuch to Mercy High School, where prayers and talks were given in support of Catholic education. From there the procession went to Northern Valley Catholic Social Services, where prayers and talks focused on Catholic Social Services. The faithful returned to Sacred Heart Church to pray for Catholic Healthcare. This theme will be highlighted during the "Fortnight for Freedom" from June 21, the vigil of the feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, to July 4, Independence Day. During this time of prayer and study there will be an empha- sis on Christian and American heritage of freedom. day, June 18-22. They are certainly correct about the reverence part. But, do we need to speak quietly in order to show our reverence? Not according to many Scriptures. Take for example, "Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples. Shout to God with the voice of tri- umph" (Psalm 47:1). Is noise allowed in the worship of our Heavenly Father? It seems that God is not afraid of a little noise. "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiv- ing; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms" (Psalm 95:1,2). God gave us hands, arms, our mouth, and feet to praise Him. Actually our entire life is meant to be a praise to God. It's always a joy to watch little children, for they are so uninhibited it their expression of joy and happiness. God designed all of us to be free in our expression of worship unto Him. We can even dance before the Lord in our desire to praise Him. "Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp" (Psalm 149:3). "Praise Him with timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes." (Psalm 150:4)! All of Psalm 150 is about freedom in praise to God. flows out to God in awe and rever- ence. Praise turns our focus on God and off of the mundane things of this life. Praising God allows our spirit to rise above turmoil that is all around us. The Bible clearly states that when we are in His presence there is fullness of joy. Praise is an act of our will that it difficult for us to enter into true praise and wor- ship. There is a door of entrance however into the very throne room of God, where we can fel- lowship and praise our Creator. Scripture teach- es us that Jesus Christ is that Door. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). A study of the book of Colos- sians, chapter one, clearly explains the divine nature of Jesus, and therefore He is deserv- ing of our praise and worship. The Gospel of John leaves no unan- swered questions about giving our lives to Jesus as Savior and Lord. I recommend reading from the New Kings James Version or even a new translation such as the New Living Translation. Most Bible believing churches have excellent studies available to help seekers understand how to develop a close relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. Pray and ask God to direct you to the right church fel- lowship. "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). When we praise God with a sincere heart we enter into His presence. God has never made Jesus loves you with an ever- lasting love. He remains a Savior with arms wide open to any sin- cere heart. He desires for you to come just as you are. None of us can clean up our own lives. We need the Savior to do that. No one else can fill the empty spot or hole in your heart and soul. Only Jesus can do that. His love is real and His offer of eternal life is a free gift just for you. Come to Jesus, and enter into a life filled with the presence of God. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Patricia Martin GodTalk together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). You can pray this prayer now: Father God, thank you for sending Jesus, your only begotten Son, to this earth, so that I can know You. Thank You Jesus for dying upon the cross and for shedding your blood so that I can be cleansed from all of my sins. Forgive me for my sins and cleanse me now. I turn my entire life over to You and I ask You to be my Savior and Lord. I commit my life to you this day. Amen Do you desire to enter into praise for God? Do you want to know your Creator? You can pray right where you are now, and begin a new life, through Christ. You will be born again (spiritual birth) and be cleansed by the blood of Jesus that He shed for you upon the cross over 2000 years ago.
