Reportedly, the cable net- work asks for independently controlled cameras to be established whenever a new leader of the House of Rep- resentatives or the Senate is established, but the request hasn't been approved up to now ... so C-SPAN basically takes what it can get to tele- vise to the public. In the case of that day in June, that also meant taking Facebook Live and Periscope feeds from politicians who sent them from their devices after the main cameras had been turned off at the behest of House Speaker Paul Ryan. The result, for many hours afterward, was (in the truest sense of the word) revolution- ary for all concerned — and it certainly put a spotlight on a situation that's much more widely known now, whatever its future may hold.
