GOLD SHOW Feb. 10, 11, 12 2017 WAM closes Quartzsite location Wickenburg Alternative Medi- cine (WAM) closed the doors of its Quartzsite location Tuesday, July 12. WAM is transferring its license to another location in El Mirage, northwest Phoenix, at 12550 Thunderbird. There are a few applications pending with the state for the Quartzsite location, so another organization may be reopening the Main Street location in just a few months. Margie Clark, WAM Dispensary Agent, said she will travel to El Mirage to open the new location and hopes to hire another Dispensary Agent, so she can return to Quartzsite. Arizona is among 20 states and the District of Columbia that allow marijuana use for medicinal or recreational reasons. Arizona vot- ers approved the use of medicinal marijuana in 2010 for conditions such as chronic pain and cancer, but the program didn't gain mo- mentum until 2012, when dispen- saries began to open. Established in the spring of 2013, WAM opened its doors to provide a service to the communities of Quartzsite, in southwest Arizona as well as Arizonians traversing the I-10. They were the last stop to purchase green medications when leaving Arizona as well as coming back in. Clark said clients have been noti- fied of the changes and they had some great deals the final days. She said Quartzsite WAM Loyalty Cards will be honored in their new location in El Mirage during the transition. Arizona Department of Health Services will accept dispensary registration certificate applications from July 18 – July 29, 2016.
