for Gamma Phi
T
his school year has been incredibly strong for the Gamma Phi Chapter. The fall semester
started with a great recruitment boasting a pledge class of 63. In that pledge class, there
were 12 All-State athletes, 11 PLC members, four PCS members, five valedictorians, and
one National Merit scholar. We proudly initiated 52 members from that pledge class this spring.
Over the year, the Gamma Phi Chapter has been fortunate enough to receive the generous donation
from our incredible alumni for a complete house renovation and expansion. Over the course of
15 months and $11 million, our chapter house was almost doubled in square footage as well as
completely renovated. We were able to move into our new facility last fall, and look forward to
hosting the National Convention in Oklahoma City this summer and showcasing our home.
We had a successful pledgeship process that lasted throughout the fall semester and a month into
the spring with initiation taking place on February 5 and a retention rate of about 94%. We also
hosted our annual Farmer's Daughter philanthropy last fall and donated more than $4,000 to the
Warriors for Freedom, which benefits our nation's active and veteran military and their families.
We are also very proud to have placed first in academics, with the second-place chapter coming
in almost a full .1 of a point behind us. With all of these accomplishments, we are very proud to
have been awarded with the President's Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding chapter
on campus in the areas of academic excellence, involvement in campus activities, and service to
the community while encouraging cultural interaction and diversity.
We look forward to Convention this summer and the future that's in store for the Gamma Phi
Chapter.
Yours in _kai_,
Reed Prado '13, Chapter President
