"It is because of artists like these seven that the Red Bluff Art Associa- tion continues to meet each week, since 1956, and freely share their experi- ence and knowledge with the membership. It's a priv- ilege to hold a special event honoring them." A Red Bluff native, Bar- bara Bunting has actively painted and participated in RBAA since 1982. She credits high school teacher, Mrs. Gordon, as first inspir- ing her art starting with charcoal, then oil and color pencil. Bea Faris, due to health and vision issues, can no longer paint and participate as she would wish, but enjoys seeing her paintings on her walls. Oil was her favorite medium. She great- ly appreciated the fellow- ship of creating art with others. For her it was valu- able pastime and personal hobby. Annie Gould holds the record of being the person with the longest member- ship. She joined in RBAA in 1962 when her daughter Pat gave her an oil painting set. She served as Chairper- son and co-Treasurer. Her paintings reflect her deep love of nature and the out- doors. Peggy Jessup knew from childhood that she was an artist. She has sold widely and done commission work. Peggy's favorite sub- jects are animals and wildlife. She currently prefers color pencil. Peggy has served in a number of capacities including a term as President in 2005. Her attendance record and active support continue today. her involvement in art was deeply influenced by a 5th grade teacher who hung her work in the hall for all to see. Genee joined RBAA in 1990. She served two years as President and 2 years as Treasurer and remains active today. Jim Schieve is a retired medical doctor who pio- neered dialysis, taught medicine, and did private practice over a long career. He remains an active artist who is showing his works at The Big Picture in June along with others. (Recep- tion to take place June 8th, 5:00-7:00 p.m.) Jim prefers not to sell his works, but takes pleasure in seeing them on his friends' walls. Phylis Wathen is a life- long artist who is skilled in a wide variety of mediums including oil painting, Genee Kluga says that The Back Packs ARE HERE! The Back Packs ARE HERE! Look for them at local businesses watercolor, color pencil, sculpture, crochet, knitting, quilting, counted cross stitch and embroidery. Jan- uary 2011, she held her first one-woman show at The Big Picture on the occasion of her then soon-to-be 90th birthday. Phylis continues to serve by being in charge of RBAA's kitchen and pre- pares whimsical and deli- cious birthday cakes each month. RBAA was planning to honor life-time members at the annual installation lun- cheon in May. However, due to the unexpected and sudden illness and death of Libby Coates who was an active member since 1963, this part of the program was postponed. Libby is deeply missed by all. Her gentle nature and loving spirit were so much a part of our activities and fellowship.
