Sponsored by Red Bluff Emblem Club, it is open to the public and no appoint- ment is necessary. Registration is 2-6 p.m. Basic requirements for donors are general good health, minimum weight of 110 pounds, and age 17 or older. With signed parental permission, 16-year-olds may donate. A donor card or photo identification, such as a dri- ver's license, is required. The entire process requires about one hours. Beef Pepper Steak This recipe for Beef Pepper Steak is from Slice n Save, Beef in a Bag. 1 pound beef top round or top sirloin steak, cut 3/4 inch thick or flank steak 1/2 cup prepared Italian dressing Salt and pepper 2 large bell peppers, any color, cut into 1/8 inch strips 1 onion, cut into 1 1/8 inch wedges Cut beef steak lengthwise in half, then crosswise into 1/8 inch thick strips. Place beef and 1/3 cup Italian dressing in food-safe plastic bag; turn beef to coat. Reserve remaining dressing for vegetables. Close bag securely and marinate in refrigerator 30 minutes to 2 hours. Remove beef from marinade; discard marinade. Heat large non- stick skillet over medium high heat until hot. Add 1/2 of beef; stir-fry 1 to 2 minutes or until outside surface of beef is no longer pink. Do not overcook. Remove from skillet. Repeat with remaining beef. Season beef with salt and pepper; keep warm. Wipe skillet with paper towel. Heat remaining Italian dressing in same skillet until hot. Add pep- pers and onion. Stir-fry 5 to 6 min- utes or until vegetables are crisp- tender. Return beef and juices to skillet. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes or until heated through. "The Spring Run will be held on Saturday April 10, so our new members will have an opportunity to learn about this won- derful organization that has members in 131 coun- tries around the world all working to help women and girls lead better lives," said Jean Shack- elford. At a recent program meeting, Amy Travis from Tehama County Public Health presented attendees with informa- tion regarding emergency preparedness. The Soroptimist Inter- national of Red Bluff con- tinues the tradition of honoring one female high school student from each of the local area high schools with the Melanie Rose Kinner Award. The award honors young ladies that have overcome major obsta- cles in their young lives and seniors. The Red Bluff group honored OlfaLilia Langarica of Los Molinos High School with the award. Sara Thomas of Red Bluff Union High School was chosen by the Red Bluff Rotary Club as student of the month for February. "Sara always follows through," said Cindy Haase, the school's student activities director. "She has a great attitude, is trustworthy and very capable; she will be a great success." Thomas is a National Merit Scholar and has earned awards for Top Academic Senior at the school, Kiwanis Student of the Quarter and NCSIF Scholastic Athlete. Her goal is to become a math teacher. For her accomplishments, Rotary has presented her with a plaque, letter of recognition and check for $50.
