Most of the Northeast will be dry today as high
pressure will keep showers and thunderstorm
south of the region through the afternoon.
Unsettled weather in the form of afternoon
showers or thunderstorms will overrun locations
in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast, while severe
thunderstorms are expected to develop across the
Midwest in the afternoon. Flooding in Texas will
continue as heavy thunderstorms develop over
the same areas of the state. Dangerous heat will
encompass the West Coast states with triple-digit
heat in the Southwest.

The Associated Press
TUCSON, ARIZ.
A heat
wave in large parts of the
West and Southwest has
many scattering for re-
prieve from the sun.
In places like Arizona,
the triple-digit tempera-
tures are a way of life,
but many still seek ways
to escape it. Most are
also equipped with cold
air conditioning.
The 2013 American
Housing Survey says
about two-thirds of res-
idences in the U.S. have
central air condition-
ing, but only 15.9 per-
cent of homes have it in
the metropolitan areas
of Seattle, Tacoma and
Everett.
That means many Seat-
tle residents instead turn
outside to escape oppres-
sive indoor heat. Children
frolic at a large fountain
close to the Space Needle.
Students at the University
of Washington often form
canoe flotillas on Lake
Washington and swim in
throngs.

CANDY CARLSON
SUPERVISOR - DISTRICT 2
Candyrepresentsherconstituentsandkeepsthebusinessesinformedofwhatisgoingoninourcommunity.
She responds to questions very quickly and seems honest in what she is doing.
Tod Dolling, Business Owner
I am the Vice Chair of the Student Senate for the California Community Colleges and support the re-election of
Candy Carlson for Board of Supervisors. She knows what she is doing as a supervisor and voices her
opinions quite well.
Oscar Camarillo, Shasta College Student
I appreciate the way Candy Carlson holds Town Hall meetings and helps the community know more about
what the supervisors are experiencing. Candy Carlson listens to you.
Gail Locke, Community Volunteer
I've known Candy for about eight years. As veterans we have worked together on the County Veterans
Collaborative and the Home Again - Canines for Veterans programs. She is respected by veterans and
represents us well.
