Kappa Alpha Chapter 3 T he Kappa Alpha Chapter had an incredible spring semester of instilling confidence in our women, benefiting our Tallahassee community, and encouraging the betterment of academics, service, and sisterhood. We had a full calendar of philanthropy, social, and Chapter events that created wonderful memories and accomplishments for our sisters. ACADeMiCS Our GPA for the 2015 fall semester was 3.27, placing us third out of 17 Panhellenic chapters. This semester, we have been encouraging women to send in good grades to gain "money" for the academic auction at the end of each semester. We also created a list of majors and minors so women can contact each other with questions. In the fall of 2016, we will begin using a study app to reward women for time spent at the library. We will also be organizing a "Movin' On Up" dinner congratulating women on improving their GPA or achieving the Dean's List. PHiLANTHRoPy We held our fourth annual Color Me KD on February 21. The event supported Prevent Child Abuse America, and over 700 members from the Greek community and Tallahassee participated in the event. We donated over $20,000 to PCAA. We also held our annual Girl Scout event where our members helped two troops sell Girl Scout cookies on campus for four hours. "Color Me KD was our best and most successful color run yet! I am so grateful to have such a strong sisterhood behind me in running these philanthropy events. I couldn't have done it without them!" said Noell Powell '13, philanthropy chairman. CHAPTeR ACTiviTieS This semester, we participated in FSU Dance Marathon and paired with the fraternities Phi Psi and Beta. Almost 70 Kappa Deltas danced and five members were morale captains, which is a huge honor. Kappa Delta alone raised $24,000, and Dance Marathon raised over $1.4 million for the Children's Miracle Network. We plan to pair with Pike for FSU Homecoming in the fall, and we paired with ATO for Relay for Life on April 15. Our sister sorority is Pi Beta Phi, and we will plan an event with them in the fall! We were also invited to attend the Governor's Mansion to be recognized by the first lady of Florida, Ann Scott, and the PCAA organization on live television for our accomplishment of raising over $40,000 for Prevent Child Abuse America. MeMBeR ACTiviTieS Rachel Sticco '12 was recognized as Florida State University's Student Government Association 2016 Executive Branch Member of the Year. elizabeth Hull '13 presented medical research to the University of Tampa and is also the president of Honors Medical Scholars at FSU. Angie Harbour '13 was recognized for her independent research activity in psychology and received the Mark A. Berkley Research Award. Daniella Frank '13 and Lauren Haley '13 were inducted into the Garnet and Gold Key Leadership Honor Society. ALuMNAe AND PAReNT eveNTS We hosted our K∆ Dad's Weekend in April and it was a huge success! We took them to the FSU Circus and had a Father-Daughter Dance and a Sunday brunch. It was a chance to show our fathers what the Kappa Delta life is all about! The Kappa Alpha Chapter would like to show our appreciation for the continuous support from our alumnae. We are very proud of our activities and accomplishments this semester. We invite you to come visit the Kappa Alpha house and Florida State University!
