Staff Reports VolleyballinAugust The Mercy High School Volley- ball Camp is scheduled for Mon- day through Thursday, Aug. 1-4. The camp will take place at the school's renovated gym, which has a new air conditioner and floor. Camps will run 8:30-11:30 a.m. for incoming sixth- and seventh- grade students and noon to 3 p.m. for incoming eighth- and ninth- grade students. The dead-eye point guard who led the Golden State Warriors to a record 73 wins in the regular season was named to the All-NBA first team Thursday. The league's MVP was the only player named on all 129 ballots in voting by a panel of writers and broadcasters. Curry was joined on the first team by Cleveland's LeBron James, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan. James is a first-team choice for the 10th time in 13 seasons. Curry is on the first team for the second straight year, while Westbrook, Leonard and Jordan are among the top five for the first time. On the second team are: Thun- der forward Kevin Durant, War- riors forward Draymond Green, Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins, Clippers guard Chris Paul and Portland guard Damian Lillard. NBA Curry, James named to first team in voting for All-NBA Staff Report RED BLUFF Four Red Bluff Spar- tans were named to the East- ern Athletic-Sacramento River League all-league teams for base- ball and softball Thursday and one received honorable mention. From the Spartans baseball team, Lane Pritchard, Kolby But- ton and Bryce Sinclair each made all-league. Softball player Ste- fanie Bruello was named to the all-league team and Aubrey Akins earned an honorable mention. Pritchard, a senior, was se- lected as an infielder. During the season he hit .396 with 22 RBIs, 14 doubles, three triples and two home runs. On the mound, he was 2-1 with four saves, 23 strikeouts, 15 walks and an ERA of 0.79. Button, a junior, was selected as a pitcher. He went 8-2 with one complete game and a shutout and an ERA of 0.94. He walked 27 and struck out 61 in 52.1 innings pitched. At the plate he had a .406 average with 24 RBIs, 11 doubles and a triple. Sinclair, a senior, was named a utility player. On the mound he went 4-2 with an ERA of 0.76, a complete game and a shutout. He struck out 32 and walked eight. At the plate he hit .330 with 16 RBIs, 11 doubles and a home run. The Spartans lost 3-2 to the Chico Panthers in the Northern Section Division II championship game Saturday. They finished the season 8-4 in league play. Brunello, a senior, was selected at second base. She hit .387 with nine RBIs and nine doubles in just 26 games and stole 15 bases. In the field she had just two errors and turned two double plays. Akins, a sophomore, received an honorable mention as a pitcher. She had an ERA of 4.85 in 26 appearances and struck out 75, walking 52 in 132.2 innings pitched. At the plate she hit .357 with 27 RBIs, seven doubles, a tri- ple and five home runs. The Lady Spartans finished with a 2-10 record in league play.
