MU NEWS Χ Ω Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of California-Berkeley Spring 2016 Mu Celebrates Top Academic Ranking Seniors Secure High-Profile Jobs Post-Graduation SWINGING INTO SPRING Mu truly has had a wonderful spring semester so far. In February, our executive board attended the Chi Omega Leadership Conclave in Los Angeles, where we were able to mingle with officers from other chapters throughout California. Our chapter is excited to welcome our new house director, Daisy West, who is sure to be an incredible addition to our home. We currently have 15 sisters studying abroad in Europe, Asia, and South America, and we are eager to welcome them home again this fall. See the map on page 2 to see where in the world our Mu sisters are! NEW HOOTIES JOIN THE NEST In January, we initiated our fall 2015 new member class in a ceremony led by New Member Educator Hanna Darroll '15. This spring, we also welcomed new member, Heather Fergus '16, who just received her big sister in the chapter. We're looking forward to the great things this class is going to do for Mu. ACADEMIC ACCOLADES Mu currently holds the highest GPA of all Panhellenic chapters at UC Berkeley with a 3.46 GPA. This is exceptionally impressive as it is higher than both the all-women and all-Greek cumulative GPAs at Cal. LEADERS ON AND OFF CAMPUS Mu is proud of our members for having leadership positions in numerous campus organizations, including Rachel Schuster '14, who serves as a senator for student government, and Frances McGinley '15, who has been elected to be the 2016-17 vice president of academic affairs. Numerous soon-to-be graduates have accepted job offers at Facebook, LinkedIn, and Goldman Sachs, while others will attend various graduate schools around the country. We are extremely proud of these sisters and are excited to see where their careers take them. LOOKING AHEAD TO FALL Mu is excited to begin planning our fall formal recruitment, as well as our upcoming philanthropy event, Cookies with Chi O. Through our partnership with Make-A-Wish, we hope to soon grant 6-year- old Avery's wish to go to Hawaii. Alumnae, please feel free to stop by the chapter house for a tour at any time. Our door is always open to you.
