Generally SPEaking page 2 Joe Rodrigues '16, President Major: Business Administration Hometown: Harrison, N.Y. "When I decided to come down to Auburn, I saw something different in Alabama Alpha, something that I didn't see in other houses on campus. Everyone here at SigEp knew everyone's name, they knew every potential new member's name, and they looked at their members as family, rather than just a number that pays dues. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of this house. I was very excited when I got my bid and became a spring '13 pledge." Tony Bonorati '16, Vice President Major: Industrial Design Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa. "The first thing I like about SigEp is our diversity. We have brothers all across the nation. Not only does this teach all different kinds of backgrounds and personalities, but it gives you a place to stay on pretty much every road trip you go on. The second thing is our brotherhood. There is no better brotherhood on campus than ours. We all know everything about everyone, and there isn't a single time where we don't come together to celebrate, remember, honor, or simply enjoy someone or something. This place makes you want to give back to it the second you become a part of it. That's why we are so strong as a fraternity." Austin Morris '16, V.P. of Finance Major: Biomedical Sciences Hometown: Millbrook, Ala. "This Chapter is special to me because of the brotherhood I found here. This is created through the diversity of this Chapter and our ability to overcome anything as one. My goal as treasurer is to keep the Chapter financially sound, allowing us to grow in influence and manpower across Auburn's campus. I want to continue to invest in this Chapter's future, allowing us to continuously better ourselves." Eddie Brown '18, V.P. of Communications Major: Speech-Language Pathology Hometown: Birmingham, Ala. "It was really important to me to find a fraternity that supported me and encouraged me rather than see me as a freshman and someone to pick on. SigEp not only offered me the opportunity to be in a brotherhood, but also to be comfortable, and be able to call SigEp my home away from home." Kyle Evans '18, Recruitment Chairman Major: Business Analytics Hometown: South Lake, Texas "One thing that struck me about SigEp was the diversity among members—we have members from all over the country with vast backgrounds." Eric O'Neil '18, Social Chairman Major: Business Marketing Hometown: Hopkinton, Mass. "I joined SigEp due to the unconditional respect and acceptance I encountered during recruitment. Being so far from home and not knowing a single person at Auburn, SigEp provided me with an immediate family away from home. For that, I am forever thankful. My goals for my term as social chairman are to increase brotherhood participation in social events, increase the quantity and quality of swaps for our Sigmas, improve the logistics of our tailgates so they run more smoothly/efficiently, and maintain the awesomeness that is Waikiki." Cameron Brothers '16, V.P. of New Member Development Major: Environmental Science Hometown: Suwanee, Ga. "I joined Sigma Phi Epsilon because being from Suwanee, most of my friends went to UGA or schools that were in Athens. I knew no one and decided to go through recruitment in the spring. Out of all the places I visited, I decided to make this place my home away from home, and have met some of the best friends I could have ever asked for along the way. My goal for the end of my term is to bring the next class of Sigmas successfully through the first stage of the Balanced Man Program, while also help leading the Phis through the rest of their challenges in the second stage of the Balanced Man Program. I also would like to leave an extensive amount of knowledge of the BMP for the next vice president of new member development." Colby Stevens '17, House Manager Major: Building Science Hometown: Rye, N.H. "The diversity is what I love about SigEp. It's not a bunch of men from Mobile, Birmingham, or Montgomery, but a collection of the finest men from all corners of the country. I want to impact SigEp by leaving it just that much better than it was when I first became a brother." Steven Breux '18, Chaplain Major: Polymer and Fiber Engineering Hometown: Birmingham, Ala. "I love the community of support we have in this brotherhood and how invested in each other we are. With my position, I strive to provide spiritual leadership to the fraternity and build an environment in the house that fosters positive growth in all aspects of life." This fall, we plan to pair up with a wide variety of Greek organizations. Last fall, we raised $8,000 with Zeta Tau Alpha. Now, we plan to expand and raise $11,000 this year with our Volley for a Cure philanthropy. We also hope to raise at least $3,000 with our silent auction for our Big Brother philanthropy. In addition to philanthropy, we are focusing on bettering our Chapter's practices. Our new mentoring program that assigns older members to younger members within the same major has proven to be very helpful for all brothers. This is an attractive program to potential new members and helps to bring in a well-rounded class. Another initiative of the executive board is striving to be the first in Auburn's Greek community to be green dot trained, which means members will be able to spot and stop any kind of abuse in a situation. We have created a standards board for our Chapter with a representative from each pledge class, the president, the treasurer, and the chaplain as the head of the board. Thank you, alumni, for your continuous support and encouragement. We are working with the Alumni Board to better our common areas over the summer and are in the process of setting up an alumni tailgate, as we have done in the past. All of us are thankful to have you all behind Alabama Alpha. Feel free to stop by the Chapter House any time you're in Auburn—we'd love to have you back home.
