Page 3 S A E T he brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Purdue University are in the midst of a pivotal year and it is with great excitement that I present to you an update on the state of our chapter. Our undergraduate brothers, now boasting more than 160 active members, are making strides to improve every facet of our historic chapter. As a result of the collective efforts from each of our undergraduate brothers and our generous alumni, Indiana Beta is not only one of the oldest chapters in the SAE realm, but also one of the most prosperous. Continued Academic and Professional Excellence The best barometer for a chapter's well-being is its academic success, which is something that our chapter takes great pride in. The numbers speak for themselves, as our chapter has earned a 3.08 cumulative GPA, which is ranked among the top 10 out of 41 fraternities here at Purdue. Our chapter has bolstered academic achievement more than ever before by promoting local SAE scholarships, expanding our online academic resources, and renovating our scholarship room with four new desktop computers. Our increased focus on academics has had a direct impact on our brothers' success in the professional world as well. Brothers are earning internships and full-time job offers from reputable companies like Exxon Mobil, Apple, Mercedes-Benz, General Electric, PepsiCo, General Motors, and more. Success in the classroom directly translates into successful alumni, which is why we put such a large emphasis on scholarship here at Indiana Beta. Dedication to Philanthropy and Community Service Our presence in the local community can be felt now more than ever by our volunteer and philanthropic endeavors. In our second annual Paddy Murphy Week, our chapter raised more than $11,000 to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity dedicated to helping veterans following the events of September 11, 2001. Furthermore, we contributed 100+ community service hours throughout the week via fundraising efforts and volunteering at the Indiana Veteran's Home in West Lafayette. However, philanthropy isn't just a one-week endeavor for the men of SAE. Every Tuesday, five to 10 brothers participate in True Gentlemen Tuesdays, where our active members volunteer at various organizations on and off campus. Furthermore, our brothers are heavily involved with Purdue University Dance Marathon, a student organization that fundraises year-round for Riley Hospital for Children. The culmination of fundraising efforts is celebrated in an annual 18-hour dance marathon every November. Our Indiana Beta Alumni Network Our alumni network's support has been absolutely crucial in the continued success of our chapter. Our House Corporation continues to work tirelessly to ensure the success of our undergraduate chapter and our upcoming renovation, which will begin this summer. We hosted our annual Alumni Gala on April 16 to celebrate our brothers and alumni, and all of the work they have put into our fraternity. We appreciate the continued support of our chapter by our generous alumni and we hope to see you at Homecoming in the fall.
