Join Alabama Beta in 2016 Alumni Day / September 10 This year's Alumni Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 10. Come help us cheer on the Crimson Tide as they take on Western Kentucky. We'll also have our annual alumni meeting that day, and elections for the Alumni Volunteer Corporation will be held. Nominations are currently being accepted for all board positions. Family Weekend / September 23-25 More information will be available as we get closer to these events. We look forward to seeing you! CHAPTER ETERNAL Leo H. Cowling '33 entered Chapter Eternal as a resident of Grosse Pointe, Mich. He will be missed dearly by family, friends, and Alabama Beta brothers. Joe Wallace '48 entered Chapter Eternal on September 7, 2015, at the age of 89. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in WWII, and eventually went on to pursue a career with Phillips Petroleum Company as a construction engineer. Joe was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Denny Society, and earned a spot on the Hall of Fame at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy; sister, Fran; four grandchildren, Olivia, Joseph, Kimberly, and Lara; six great-grandchildren; and his longtime partner, Beverly Woodall. David R. Bauer '52 entered Chapter Eternal on November 20, 2014, at the age of 86. After graduating from college, he served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant and eventually moved to Dothan, Ala., to work at the Houston County Health Department as a health inspector. He was an active member of the St. Columba Catholic Church. Kenneth W. Stanton '63 entered Chapter Eternal on January 17, 2014, as a resident of Mobile, Ala., due to a prolonged illness. He will be remembered lovingly by his family and friends. Paul T. Johnson '71 entered Chapter Eternal unexpectedly on March 17 at his home in Hoover, Ala. He was retired from the FBI, where he served 30 years as a special agent. In recent years, he worked as a contractor for the federal government. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan; daughter, Jessica; son, CPO Paul T. Johnson Jr.; grandchildren, Morgan, Brooke, Harper, and Jacob; and brothers, David and Clark. Paul was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his untiring work ethic. He was known by his colleagues for the high standard of excellence he maintained in his years of federal service. Paul loved Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alabama Beta and was active in all the Chapter's alumni activities. He loved to regale the undergraduates with stories from his time in the Chapter. Paseur '74 entered Chapter Eternal as a resident of Muscle Shoals, Ala. He valued the experiences and friendships he gained in SigEp and will be missed by his brothers. ALUMNI NEWS Stephen R. Deitz '74 says, "I have only four passions in my retired life: my Catholic faith, my family, American Legion, and Amigos for Christ mission trips to Nicaragua."
