Thursday, May 31 2012 – Daily News 5C Gerber Elementary School Evergreen Middle School Middle School Maywood Evergreen Middle School Gerber Elementary School Mercy High School Juliska Eklund 8th Grade Juliska Eklund is an eighth grade student at Gerber Elementary School. Juliska has a 3.83 GPA and excels in all of her classes. She has an inquisitive mind and loves to learn just for the sake of learning. Juliska would like to attend college at Chico State University, and she would love to work at a zoo after she graduates. Activities that Juliska participates in outside of school are camping with her family, dancing, and swimming. Juliska is also very active in her church performing service works. She is very dependable and always goes the extra mile on her school work. She especially enjoys projects as she can show off her artistic skills. Kiara is a quiet leader and is well respected by her peers. College is in Kiara's future. She is interested in attending Chico State and would like to pursue the medical field. Maggie has maintained a grade point average of greater than 4.0, while she has been very active in sports and school activities. Maggie has played volleyball, basketball and softball, and been Athlete of the Week for Basketball and Volleyball. She has also been President of Friday Night Live, a member of many other clubs, and participated in the Madrigal and Spring Musical all four years. Maggie has served many hours of community service, including volunteering at Mercy Hospital, Bible School and Mercy Retreats. Krista has maintained over a 4.0 GPA all four years of high school, making her a Top Academic Senior. Krista challenges herself by taking Advanced Placement course, and she is enrolled in ROP Health Occupations and is working at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. In addition to her academics, Krista played four years of Varsity softball and two years of Varsity basketball. She also coaches youth soccer and youth basketball. Online 24/7 at Mackenzie Clements Mackenzie Clements, scholar, leader, athlete, and friend is planning to attend UC Irvine in the fall as a student of dance. She leaves behind an impressive résumé which includes graduating in the top 20 of her class, a member of the California Scholarship Federation, president of the French Club, a long list of performances including "The Big Top" and several "HYPErboles", and many friends that will miss her smiling face and easy- going nature. Her plans for the future are to get her degree and continue performing, dabbling in choreography and then possibly becoming a dance instructor. She doesn't just do her work, going through the motions out of obligation; Madeleine takes pride in her education and does everything with a level of meticulousness that is exceptional. She is highly organized maintaining exceptional balance between her academics, athletics and social time.
