DEATH Unidentified man found lying on driveway By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter RED BLUFF If everything goes as planned the city plans to hold the grand reopening of the be- loved airport restaurant on May 28. The Red Bluff City Council met Thursday to discuss the fi- nal items that need to be done to complete the project at a special meeting held at the restaurant, 1760 Airport Blvd. The restaurant, formally known as the Hangar Cafe, closed its doors in 2015. Since then the Public Works Department has worked toward renovating the downstairs area, formerly the museum, to become the new res- taurant while also being ADA or Americans with Disability com- pliant. A lot of different things had to be addressed as part of the reha- bilitation of the restaurant, Public Works Director Bruce Henz said. The building is now more earth- quake resistant, he said. There were delays throughout the process but the department has worked to make sure things were done properly, Henz said. The department had licenced structural engineers come out to examine the restaurant and are awaiting the inspection and ap- proval from the Health Depart- ment. As of now the Red Bluff Fire Department has approved the fire suppression system near the stove. Funding for the project was ap- proved on Aug. 20, 2015 at the city council meeting with a supple- mental funding of $60,000 from the airport account after some unforeseen issues arose and ad- ditional funds were needed. As the project is coming to a close the department is making sure that, operationally, the new owners will have the appropri- ate things they will need to get started, Henz said.
