The Ivy 3 T he women of Beta Beta completed anoth- er successful semester full of academics, sisterhood, and philanthropy. We were thrilled to welcome more than 45 members last fall and have enjoyed watching these women ex- cel in the chapter since then. Alpha Phi Proves Dedication to Academics According to the MSU Panhellenic Council for fall 2015, Beta Beta ranked 10th in academics. Alpha Phi's overall GPA for 2015 was a 3.28, which exceeds the overall non-Greek student GPA of 3.14. Members Plan Stellar Hoops for Heart Tournament Last year, we hosted our inaugural Hoops for Heart basketball tournament where different fraternities on campus participated in basket- ball games while raising money for a good cause. "Hoops for Heart was a huge success. Seeing friendly competition among the fraternity men and the interaction between the teams and our chapter was great. It was nice to see so much effort put toward raising money for the Alpha Phi Foundation," Philanthropy Chairman Kacy Kobakof '13 said. We are pleased to have raised more than $700 and look forward to breaking this goal next year. Undergraduates Make eir Mark on Campus Many women in our chapter have had the op- portunity to shed a positive light on Beta Beta through their tremendous campus leadership. Lexi Pitcher '13 is the fundraising and spon- sorship executive for Relay for Life and Spartans Fighting Cancer, Gabriella Timmis '13 serves as president of Wish Upon a Teen, and Zarra Wil- liams '13 is the vice president of community re- lations for the Accounting Students Association. In addition, Lauren Lowes '14 holds the mentor- ship chairman position for the Spartan Pre-Pro- fessional Club and Katherine Panagos '12 was named Panhellenic Council's Greek Academic Woman of the Year. We are very proud of all our members' accomplishments! New Pledge Class Boosts Chapter Morale Beta Beta had an excellent turnout for recruit- ment last fall, as our chapter gained many new members who have shown dedication, com- mitment, and unity within our sisterhood thus far. We are excited to see where this chapter is headed as we continue to grow. "Last year, we changed some of our routines so we could get to know these women better within a short period of time. It was a great time and we are blessed to have the opportunity to form close bonds with these women," Director of Formal Recruitment Rachael Banas '12 said. ank You, Alumnae, for Making Our Chapter One of the Best We are pleased with our members' phenomenal achievements and would like to thank our alum- nae for helping make Beta Beta the strong chapter it is today. Commitment to Success Sets Chapter on Positive Path Undergraduates Excel in Philanthropy, Academics, and Recruitment Thank You, Dedicated Alumnae, for Helping Beta Beta Secure an AED House Corporation Board Secures Plans for Summer Renovations I t will be an exciting summer in East Lan- sing as the House Corporation Board (HCB) has approved plans to renovate the second and third floors of the chapter house. Bathrooms will be rebuilt with up- dated plumbing and modern amenities. is project will be financed by the HCB and is a significant investment in the future of our chapter. We are eager to provide a more com- fortable facility for our undergraduate mem- bers and ensure Beta Beta's prominent stand- ing on campus for years to come. Last fall, the HCB hired an architect to pro- vide a master plan for the facility, which resulted in projects totaling more than $1 million. While we believe Beta Beta has one of the most polished facilities on cam- pus, additional updates are required to stay competitive with other sororities on campus. Summer renovations are the first step of our master plan and we look forward to tackling larger-scale projects in the future.
