BETA BETA CHAPTER of ALPHA PHI at MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY Spring 2016 The Ivy F or nearly a century, Alpha Phi has been a proud and respected member of the Michigan State campus community. Since our founding in 1922, hundreds of young women have bonded as sisters and strived to live hand in hand. Beta Beta Chapter continues to grow both in numbers and in stature, with 150 active undergradu- ate members and over 1,200 active alumnae. As you can imagine, our chapter house is bursting at the seams in every phase of sorority life— dining, meetings, recruitment, and philanthropic events. I think most of us would agree that Alpha Phi has had a significant impact on our lives, both during and aer our time at Michigan State. Because we build such strong friendships, we all leave Alpha Phi with high hopes of keeping our strong bonds of sisterhood intact. Unfortu- nately, we quickly find that many new interests—careers, families, and civic activities—can create valid diversions. e day-to-day activities of life take over and, before we know it, we fall out of touch and be- gin to wonder what happened to our sisters. Without a solid alumnae relations program in place, our members lack the means for staying connected to the sorority. With this in mind, our House Corporation Board has developed a for- mal alumnae relations program to help our members stay in touch and to cultivate awareness and involvement in our Beta Beta Chapter. Twice a year, we will be mailing a newsletter focused on communica- tion with alumnae. Each issue will contain alumnae news, spotlights on alumnae from various decades, information about upcoming events, and reports on chapter activities. We want to give you an op- portunity to reach out to sisters you haven't seen or talked to for far too long, and we hope this will encourage you to reconnect with them. In addition to learning more about our own pledge sisters and alum- nae, it also is important for all of us to stay informed about the colle- giate chapter and hear about what our younger sisters are accomplish- ing. ese stories will encourage you to lend your support to Alpha Phi and help our women remain leaders on campus and in the community. With this new communications program, our goal is to keep all alum- nae informed about current projects and future plans and to give all of our Beta Beta sisters an opportunity to get involved. We hope our efforts will remind you that we are all sisters for life, not just during our college years. Please feel free to stop by the chapter house when you are back on campus cheering on our Michigan State Spartans to victory! We look forward to reconnecting.
