Safe Tires Make for a Safe Ride via article base Have you checked your motorcycle tires lately? If you haven't, then you might want to do so in order to make sure they are in good condition. Keeping your tires in good shape is not only a necessity, but something that may keep you alive. Here are a few things that you must do before hitting the road this year. The Need for Quality Motorcycle Tires Here are just a few of the many reasons why you need good motorcycle tires. Having good traction is a must for motorcycle riders as they don't have the ability to rely on three other tires like cars do. Any type of hydroplaning by your motorcycle is a clear sign that you may need new tires. Stop riding the bike if the tires start to slide in any type of road conditions. Not only does having an adequate amount of tread help keep you safe, but it also helps keep others on the road safe as well. If your bike skids out of control, who knows what the result might be — and who knows who else might be hurt as a result of your negligence? Some Common Tips Keep Tires Inflated: Always check the amount of air in your tires before each and every ride. Keeping your motorcycle's tires at the proper inflation is the key to long term success of your bike. Tires that are under inflated tend to heat up more and therefore are more susceptible to a blow out. When your motorcycle tires are running to hot, they are more likely to break down and wear out quickly. Keep Good Tread Depth: Besides inflation, tire depth is something that is very important when dealing with your tires. A good rule of thumb is that if your tires are 2mm or less, then it is time to start shopping for new tires. It is always a good idea to check the tire all over as some wear and tear may take place on only certain parts of the tire. Keeping your motorcycle running smoothly is just one of the many things that you can do to ensure a great ride this summer. JUNE 23 • CAPE FEAR PEDIATRICS POKER RUN at Louie's Sports Pub.
