In April 2016, Manny del Valle '87 and Dan Probst '87 teamed up to make it a celebration in Gainesville with what they hope will be an annual gathering of 1980s brothers. "Success can be measured in many ways, but the most important one was bringing 22 brothers and little sisters together for a weekend of catching up and remembering those great days. Seeing brothers I had not seen in over 25 or 30 years was something very special. And it would not have happened without Dan Probst joining me to make it happen," Manny said. The group gathered Saturday, April 8, at the Chapter House to renew friendships, hear about the renovation plans for the house, learn how The Balanced Man Program is being implemented, and meet many of the new brothers of the Sigma Epsilon Colony. The weekend included attending the Orange & Blue game Friday night, hanging out in the alumni room, a visit to Burrito Brothers for lunch on Saturday, a barbecue at the house with the new Sigma Epsilon Colony members, and the Florida vs. Mississippi State baseball game. "It was great to meet the impressive group of young men who have been recruited into the Alumni from the '80s gathered this spring for a reunion. Those in attendance were Lee Catledge '90, Mike Ujhelyi '87, Chuck Peterson '88, Martin Breen '88, Dan Probst '87, Jon Kreider '88, Bob Jenkins '87, Mike Layton '87, Jim Barlow '88, Chris Roche '87, Manny del Valle '87, Brett Ogilivie '86, Chris Leber '88, Ed Eastwood '84, Dave Floyd '86, Rich Jancheson '91, Rick Perkinson '88, and Al Bruns '85. Brothers from the 1980s Gather in Gainesville charter class of the Colony that, in a year or so, will become Florida Alpha. It was inspiring to see the excitement in their eyes as they walked around the house for the first time. They can't wait to see the construction crew working to make it shine again. We can't wait for that day either," Manny says. During the barbecue, the young guys were all wide-eyed while they heard stories about the "good old days." "We told them about getting 'creeked', tried to sing 'Maheei Mahi Maho' and 'Wadan Chu,' and they enjoyed the butcher job we did on them," he said. It was the consensus of the group to meet every year at the second Gator home football game. This year, the second game will be September 10 when the Gators play Kentucky. "We tailgate in front of the house at every home game, but we are going to make a special effort to get any and all brothers from the '80s to meet every year at the second home game. Be there or be a Lambda Chi," Manny said laughing. Al Alsobrook '60 Florida Alpha Alumni Newsletter Editor Want to host your own reunion but need help getting started?
