SC THETA THETA CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY | UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN | SPRING 2016 CAMPAIGN END IN SIGHT $144,365 Remaining for Capital Campaign A s spring is in full bloom in Ann Arbor, the renovations completed last year at 548 South State Street reflect the bright, flourishing future of Theta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi. Forty men will enjoy the updated Chapter House next year, the first of many generations of brothers to make memories, develop as leaders, and grow as brothers within the walls we all once called home. CHAPTER RENOVATIONS NEARLY COMPLETE The majority of renovations to the Chapter House were completed between March and September 2015, which not only saved the Chapter money, but allowed all to enjoy the completed project this year. We look forward to completing final touches on the Chapter House, such as landscaping in the front yard and installing accent lighting to highlight the rebuilt front porch. REDUCING CONSTRUCTION DEBTS While renovations are nearly complete and the House Corporation is in good fiscal health, Theta Theta needs your assistance in ensuring we do not take on additional debt. We are grateful to the 182 alumni who have contributed to our current campaign total of more than $1.355 million, but we need additional alumni support to push us to the finish line. When you return to the Theta Theta for Homecoming, or show your son the fraternity as you drop him off at college, don't you want to be able to say, I helped make this happen? HOW DO I GIVE BACK? If you are one of the 1,006 brothers who have not made your commitment to the campaign, we urge you to do so now. The matching gift program provided by Brothers Bill Swaney '60 and Jeffrey Rich '82 is still available and is an excellent way to show your dedication to Theta Theta, while also making double the impact. Any new pledge or increased pledge received will be matched dollar-for-dollar. This opportunity doubles the pledge from any brother, allowing you to make a powerful difference for Theta. There are three things you can do to ensure we reach the remaining $144,365 of our goal: 1. Submit the enclosed pledge card for your new campaign donation. 2. Submit the enclosed pledge card indicating that you are increasing your current pledge. 3. Honor your commitment to the Chapter and submit your payments on time. THANK YOU, GENEROUS ALUMNI Those who make contributions to the Preserving Our Past, Securing Our Future: 100 Years at 548 South State campaign of at least $5,000 will have their names inscribed on a large bronze plaque on display in the Chapter House. It would be my pleasure to order the largest bronze plaque in Ann Arbor to honor the brothers who participated. We want to add your name to the list. On behalf of the campaign committee and Brothers Bill Swaney '60 and Jeffrey Rich '82, please consider a qualifying donation and join the Preserving Our Past, Securing Our Future: 100 Years at 548 South State campaign. Make double the impact through your contribution TODAY! Dave Kowal '85 found his bridge to home through Sigma Chi and the familiar faces of high school friends Tim Giradot '84 and Jim Toal '84. "I was looking for something to be a part of," Dave said. The following year, his younger brother, Dan Kowal '86, would follow in his footsteps, further making Theta Theta Chapter a home. Thirty-five years later, Sigma Chi remains an influential part of Dave's life. The Chapter House at 548 South State Street was the foundation of years of wonderful memories for Dave. "I remember living in the attic with seven roommates, looking out at the campus as we made prank phone calls, and hanging out sun tanning on the roof," he said. His brothers were always there for him, whether it was for Thursday night drinks at Charlie's or studying for an economics test. "All of those little things of my experience still make me smile."
