Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi 5
Red Dress Weekend Enjoyed by Actives, Friends, and Alumnae
More Than $45,000 Raised for Women's Heart Health
O
n February 27 and 28, Omicron held its second annual Red
Dress Weekend to raise funds for the Alpha Phi Foundation. The
weekend was packed full of wonderful events and a great chance
for members, family, friends, and alumnae to get together, have fun,
and raise money for women's heart health.
Saturday's Red Dress Gala, held at the Reynolds Alumni Center,
was attended by more than 300 people. In addition to a live
auction, attendees bid on great silent auction items, including fine
jewelry, designer handbags, and sports memorabilia. Members of
the chapter provided musical entertainment during the delicious
dinner, after which a member of the local chapter of the American
Heart Association spoke about the importance of raising money
to fight heart disease. Many alumnae attended and the chapter
was especially pleased to present Colleen McCorkle Morris
'58, Marjorie Mohler Lindsey '59, and Jacqueline Abelson
Dzicek '58 with their 50-year pins.
The following day, the chapter hosted the 12th annual Rockin' Red
Dress Poker Tournament. Alpha Phi collegians dealt hands to more
than 400 people, including men from 25 fraternities. The grand prize
of $1,200 was split between the top two players this year.
Alli Ladd '12 was chosen for the
Val Lawlor Outstanding Senior Award.
Val '71 was on hand at the Gala to
present her with the award.
