Omicron Chapter Always Alpha Phi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Spring 2016 A lpha Phi sisters are a blessing in my life. There are so many women who have inspired me to be stronger, work harder, and enjoy life. Sisterhood is the core of my sorority experience. The bonds of sisterhood I made as a young woman, the bonds I renew, and the bonds I continue to develop are special. This includes women from my college years, volunteers who work together to help today's chapter grow and prosper, and the wonderful collegiate women who continue our sisterhood. My first memories of Alpha Phi sisters started on the chapter house lawn on Bid Day in 1979. I also remember pledge and chapter meetings, sharing meals, studying, and, of course, recruitment. On occasion, we did things away from the house, but it's the time spent on Providence Road I cherish most. The bonds created at these gatherings shaped my memories and helped me grow and succeed as I progressed through my life. Like many, when I left college and concentrated on my new life, I wasn't in touch with my sisters as much as I wanted. So when I returned for the 2010 Centennial Celebration, I was thrilled to reconnect and renew many friendships. What a wonderful reminder of the meaning of sisterhood! Now, through my time on the House Corporation Board, I continue to be impressed by the sisters around me. The newest members/actives, as well as the alumnae volunteers supporting the chapter, are all so smart and engaged. The university experienced a lot of turmoil last fall, but our sisters were strong and focused. I am proud and often humbled by my connection to this wonderful group of women. There are so many women I admire, and I want to show my appreciation to them. Our latest campaign, Giving: Sister- to-Sister, is a perfect way to recognize the impact they have had in my life. I have made a donation to honor several sisters who have been an important part of my Alpha Phi experience. I hope you will consider your sisterhood experiences and do the same. The funds you contribute will be used to keep our beautiful home safe, modern, and up to date. No matter when we were in school, the common touchstone we all share is the chapter facility. It is our public face for recruitment and for visitors alike. The chapter house and annex are in wonderful shape due to the extraordinary efforts of many sisters over the past several years. The House Corporation has improved every room of the chapter house and annex, from basement to third floor. To ensure Alpha Phi is the most sought- after sorority on campus, it is important to sustain our ongoing stewardship of the facilities. Your contribution to honor a sister will help make that happen. In the coming weeks, you will receive a letter sharing the opportunity to donate during this special campaign. When you mail in your gift, please take a moment to tell us about the sister in whose honor you are donating. If you prefer to donate your time, the HCB and chapter advisory teams would be happy to discuss how you can best contribute. Please feel free to contact me to see how your skills and enthusiasm can keep our sisterhood strong. AOE, Kate Hendley Wood '80 President Alpha Phi House Corporation katewood61@yahoo.com T his fall, Omicron launched the Giving: Sister-to-Sister campaign to help the chapter house remain safe and up to date, as well as keep Alpha Phi competitive, ensuring our sisterhood is as dynamic for the next generation of women at Mizzou as it is today.
