T
he Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization
will soon begin a study that will help guide the growth of
our community's walking and bicycling facilities. The study
will identify where we most need more bike lanes, sidewalks, and
greenways, and outline an implementation schedule. This Bicycle
and Pedestrian Connectivity Report will include FAMPO's planning
area, which encompasses parts of Hoke and Harnett Counties, and
all of Cumberland County.
This plan will also include the design of the Little Cross
Creek Greenway. Bike lanes, sidewalks, and greenways give us an
alternative option when traveling to our destinations and improve
the air we breathe by reducing pollution. Greenways are also a great
way to get out and enjoy nature while promoting exercise and a
healthy lifestyle. The Little Cross Creek Greenway will connect Fort
Bragg to Downtown Fayetteville and the Cape Fear River Trail.
If you would like to participate in this process, contact Maurizia
Chapman at mchapman@co.cumberland.nc.us or at (910) 678-7615.
E

Air Quality Poster/Cartoon Contest. Youngsters are asked
to create original artwork, either a poster or comic strip, showing
ways to improve air quality around our schools.
