DEARMARY:Whatis the best refrigerator brand overall? We are ready to purchase a French-door style refrig- erator with water and ice com- partments in the door. Thank you. — Anne DEAR ANNE: When my husband did a major remodel of our kitchen, I went into hyper- research mode to find the exact refrigerator you de- scribe. I had one more re- quirement: a reasonable price. It didn't take long for me to scrub the Sam- sung brand due to the nu- merous poor reviews from buyers and feedback from the appliance repairmen I interviewed. I'll cut to the chase and tell you that we opted for GE Profile Series Energy Star 27.7 cubic feet French-Door Refrigerator. I loved everything about that refrigerator for the six months I got to enjoy it be- fore we sold that house — especially its lower freezer. Finding it on sale made the price right, too. We also replaced the 13-year-old side-by-side refrigerator that came with our new home. And I won't hesitate one moment to buy the Energy Star re- frigerator again. Actually, I can hardly wait. I hope that helps. DEAR MARY: I need a humidifier. I'm sure you will have a good sugges- tion for me? What is a good one? What is a good price? Where is a good place to buy one? Your col- umn is my favorite in our newspaper. You're like a good friend with lots of good ideas. Thank you in advance. Many blessings. — Carolyn DEAR CAROLYN: I am especially fond of the Hon- eywell HCM-350 Germ Free Cool Mist Humidi- fier because it really does kill of up 99 percent of bacteria, mold, fungus and viruses — not that I am a germaphobe or any- thing. And its large capac- ity (1.5-gallon tank) means you can let it run for 24 hours straight between fill-ups. The regular price is $79.99, but you can find it for less if you are patient and super savvy. As I write this, it is available online at Amazon for $54.99 with free shipping. I don't think you can beat that price, but if you do, be sure to let me know! As a bonus, this particular humidi- fier has lots of five-star re- views, which speaks vol- umes to me. Thanks for being one of my loyal print readers. I'm told there are more than a million of you, which makes me so happy. Good luck with your decision. DEAR MARY: Have you researched or found the most quiet clothes dryer? That is my top priority. The one I have now is so noisy! Thanks. — Donna DEAR DONNA: I highly recommend the LG DLEX3570W 7.4 cubic feet Ultra Large Capacity SteamDryer. I've owned that dryer and can tell you that LG's LoDecibel Quiet Operation system is quite amazing. There were times I had to check the settings to see if the thing was even running. That's how quiet it is. And while the steam option wasn't on my list of must-haves, once I used it, it became my fa- vorite bonus feature. The show, which was for Tehama County 4-H members only, had five species of animals pres- ent with about 50 4-H participants on hand for the day, said event co-Chairwoman Anne Junge. Karena Maayer was the other chairwoman of the event, which was hosted by the Los Molinos 4-H Club. "It's an opportunity for our 4-H kids to show their animals and learn more about breeding and showmanship," Junge said. "In 4-H, we try to give every kid an opportunity to show their project at a county level. This is a good practice round for the fair." Saturday's event was for the smaller breeds with the larger breeds show- ing at a Westside 4-H Club hosted event later in the spring. The show for the larger animals will be June 25-26, said David Ferreira of the Westside 4-H Club. For more informa- tion on Tehama County 4-H programs, call 527- 3101.
