ByMarilynAdams Computersareprepro- grammed. Default means: a preselected option ad- opted by a computer pro- gram or other mecha- nism when no alternative is specified by the user or programmer. The Bible talks about how we are prepro- grammed, and how our default for rebellion against God — sin — was set. Yet, it also tells us the wonderful news of how we can be reprogrammed. We do not have to be bound in our default. Let's look at His way out. First our default, and then God's higher way for our lives. Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." No- tice the word all; that means everyone without exception. We were born in sin. We were alienated from the life of a Holy God. We were without hope, preprogrammed as slaves to sin. This is not an encouraging picture. These two verses help us see that prepro- grammed condition. Ephesians 2:2-3 says, "In which we once walked ac- cording to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of dis- obedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the de- sires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by na- ture children of wrath, just as the others." There is great news. The Bible also tells us how we can be reprogrammed. It describes in detail how our default can be trans- formed. It is the same as the metamorphosis of the caterpillar. The caterpillar melts inside the cocoon, and from that liquid the butterfly is formed. Romans 12:2 says, "And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." It all starts with faith in God. Ephe- sians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Through salvation all our sins are forgiven, and we stand before God as though we never sinned. We are justified. Romans 5:1-2 says, "Therefore, hav- ing been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." God's plan of salva- tion began before He ever laid the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4 says, "Just as He chose us in Him before the founda- tion of the world, that we should be holy and with- out blame before Him in love." How amazing is that! God chose you to be with Him through eter- nity. You can receive this gift of eternal life by be- lieving in His Son, Jesus Christ. You must acknowledge that you are a sinner, and that you have fallen short of God's standard. You then believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins. He bore all of your sins, past, present, and fu- ture on the cross. He suf- fered the wrath of God that was your due. As you believe in Him as your personal Savior, He will give you His gift of eter- nal life. His promise is ful- filled in Himself. He can- not lie. His word is incor- ruptible. 1 Peter 1:23 says, "Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever." The K-6th grade class will break into smaller classes. "This first year has been exciting, we have seen God work in amazing ways to bring this school to fam- ilies in Tehama County," said Greg Wagner, pastor and administrator. "We know more and more par- ents are praying about their child's academic options and expect to grow again this year." Detailed information can be found on ccredluff.org or by calling 527-8219. The academy is a minis- try of Calvary Chapel Red Bluff. As a private Chris- tian school it can offer small classes with commit- ted, loving teachers that instruct students to have a biblical world view.
