page 2 The lyre letter O n October 12, 2015, the Alpha Chi Omega Educational Corporation hosted its annual Leadership and Scholarship Recognition Ceremony to identify and honor collegians who exhibit academic and leadership success. More than 40 Alpha Chis were recognized this year. Many of the recognized collegians are either on the honor roll or Dean's List of their college. Each collegian is recognized by the Educational Corporation as a woman who brings knowledge to the solution of her own problems and passes on the light of knowledge from generation to generation. Twelve collegians were recognized for outstanding scholarship by having a 4.0 GPA. Each scholar was given an Alpha Chi scholar coffee mug to help them with their late nights of studying. The recipients were Shelby Brooks '12, Julianne Faur '14, Allison Haindfield '13, Julianne Ham '12, Chloe Jenkins '14, McKenna Kime '13, McKenzie Kjose '14, Michaela Lutz '12, Caitlin McDermott '13, Kylynn Moyer '15, Taylor Uhlir '14, and Allison Wetig '13. Three undergraduates were recognized for most improved GPA: Maddie Grewe '14, Caroline Hohl '13, and Cassie Cheek '12. President Danielle Proskovec '13 won the 2015 scholarship. The Xi Chapter Scholarship was formerly known as the Vivian Grainger Scholarship, and in 1982, in honor of the 75th anniversary of Xi Chapter, was combined with a major fundraiser to create a large enough endowment fund to allow a scholarship to be granted based off of the interest each year. Your donations to the Educational Corporation continue to support these events. Thank you for encouraging Alpha Chis to be involved, serve others, and achieve academic excellence. More than 40 Women Recognized for Academic Excellence T he Xi Chapter executive team and I are eagerly working to make this semester one of positive change. Focusing on the tradition of Alpha Chi, the women of Xi are reminded of the Real. Strong. Women. that have come before them and who surround them daily. I am humbled with the opportunity to lead this group of driven and confident young women to continue seeking the heights and striving toward excellence. SPRINGING INTO EVENTS By beginning the semester with a newly restructured and more engaging Monday-night meeting, the women of Xi were welcomed home by the executive team with a busy spring schedule. The semester has consisted of weekly sisterhood events of The Bachelor watch parties and board game nights, study outings, our annual Crush Formal, Greek Weekend, Mom's Day, and our spring philanthropic event, Raising the Roof, which occurred on March 10. Savannah Rave '14, vice president of recruitment, has our calendar filled with scheduled practices to prepare our members for formal recruitment this fall. Xi Chapter also welcomed 10 new members into our sisterhood this spring. With the help of Nikki D'Elia '14, vice president of new member education, we cannot wait to show them the wonderful opportunities ACW has to offer. CHAPTER LEADERSHIP STRENGTHENED Gabrielle Lail '14, vice president of membership programming, and I had the honor of attending Alpha Chi Omega's annual Leadership Academy hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana, the home of our national headquarters. We spent the weekend surrounded by hundreds of sisters that make up the leadership of Alpha Chi Omega chapters all around the country. We are enthusiastic to share what we learned with our sisters and continue working toward bettering our chapter. In February, the Xi executive team traveled to the University of Oklahoma for our province's annual leadership workshop. REVISED ACADEMIC PROGRAM Our executive board is currently in the process of transitioning to My Chapter Room, which is an external program to simplify communication, collaboration, and organization within our chapter. Along with that, in efforts to improve our chapter GPA, Rebekah Strotman '13, vice president of intellectual development, has introduced GreekStudy, an app made to easily track member study hours around campus, alongside a newly revised academic contract. We hope these efforts will boost our academic ranking within the Greek community, as well as help with recruitment retention rates. Xi Chapter has so much to look forward to in pursuit of becoming a stronger chapter through efforts improving our academics, philanthropic achievements, membership programming, and sisterhood bond.
