MU MESSENGER 4 T he women of Delta Gamma's Mu chapter kicked off this fall by welcoming 92 new members. We participated in Homecoming this year with the men of Pi Kappa Alpha. Everyone had a great time decorating the pomp boards, watching the skit actors, and collecting cans for the local food bank. With our amazing partnership with the men of Pi Kappa Alpha, we placed fourth overall in house decorations. Our women who performed an in-between act during Homecoming skits also placed first. Last fall, to fundraise for the Foundation, we held an event titled "Guide- Dogs-in-Training." Mizzou students and other Greek students gathered in our front yard to play with dogs from the local humane society. Next we held our annual Anchor Splash® event. The participating fraternities and Mu chapter had a great time choreographing dances for them to perform. Anchor Splash® was a great success and we raised $13,000 in total for the Foundation. Last year, we also won the award for Dedication to Continued Member Development from Greek Life at the University of Missouri. This was quite an honor. In the fall, we also earned an above-average Panhellenic GPA of 3.252. This spring, we will participate in Greek Week, which involves service, a food drive, a blood drive and friendly sports competitions. We will hold our annual DunkinDG late-night food event and our campus-wide basketball tournament to raise money for the Foundation. We are also very excited to spend our time enjoying our last semester with our home here before our brand-new beautiful mansion takes over 900 S. Providence. The goal is that our new house will reflect all the beauty, warmth and memories of our current house. With that in mind, we are hoping to reuse many architectural elements, including sections of the entry stair rail and balusters, exterior columns, anchor room paneling, lighted anchor and most of our historical furnishings. One of the most exciting things we have found are the original architectural plans for the current house, which we will frame and use as featured art on the first floor. Over Christmas break, we cleaned out closets that have been locked for many years and found wonderful historical pictures, documents, china and silver, which we plan to refurbish and display for current and future generations to enjoy. We feel such a commitment to creating a space that will continue to feel like home to all our alumnae. As we move from the planning stages to actually selecting finishes, rest assured, each of us has the desire to reflect as much of our current house in the design of our new house as possible. Thank you to our committee members who have already invested countless hours and we are just getting started!
