BENMARGOT—THEASSOCIATEDPRESS The Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry, center, and coach Steve Kerr smile during a timeout during Game 2of a playoff series Monday against Houston in Oakland. ByJanieMcCauley TheAssociatedPress OAKLAND StephenCurry'strou- blesome right ankle has no seri- ous structural damage. The reigning NBA MVP un- derwent an MRI exam on his in- jured right ankle Tuesday in the Bay Area, and the Golden State Warriors said nothing of con- cern came up on the test. Curry remained questionable for Game 3 of his team's playoff series on Thursday in Houston. Curry missed Monday night's 115-106 victory against the Rock- ets at Oracle Arena after cutting short his warmup routine because his troublesome ankle was ten- der. He will continue to undergo treatment for the injury ahead of Thursday, and coach Steve Kerr mentioned there is ample time for Curry to try to get healthy and stay off his feet. "We'll see how he responds the next couple of days, and if he's not right obviously being up 2-0 does give us more cushion if we decide to sit him," Kerr said after Mon- day's game. "But it will be based on his health, not the series score. While the Falcons put up a run on three hits to open the first, the Cardinals quickly loaded the bases when Brady Meeds reached on an error, Devin Wunsch was hit by a pitch and Wyatt Haydon singled. A Drew Fissori single plated Meeds before Noah Miller walked to score Wunsch, with the bases still loaded and one away. The Falcons pulled Dylan Chavez from the mound, going with lefty Wade Wilson. The next batter, Chad McFall, hit a base- clearing triple and Tyler Grine singled to score McFall. By the end of the first, Corning had six runs on six hits. On the mound, Haydon con- trolled the game, facing just 10 batters over the next three in- nings. The Cardinals would score again in the second with a Grine single that scored Miller and BASEBALL LOUD 1ST LEADS TO EASY CARDS WIN Corning scores 6 runs on 6 hits in opening inning, backs complete game by Haydon Corning's Noah Miller scoops up a grounder in Tuesday night's win over the Central Valley Falcons. By Paul Gackle BANG Correspondent SAN JOSE By now, San Jose Sharks fans should be pretty fa- miliar with the concept of "roll- ing four lines", a key ingredient in head coach Pete DeBoer's brand of pressure hockey. Since the first day of train- ing camp, DeBoer has preached about the importance of turning the Sharks into a true four-line team that doesn't rely solely on its top-six forwards as it had so often in past seasons. But with an opportunity to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Sharks first round Stan- ley Cup playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, DeBoer benched his fourth line for most of the third period and overtime, leaning heavily on his top lines, a trend that can't con- tinue if the team is going to play deep into the spring this year. "We need all four lines," De- Boer insisted after practice on Tuesday. "You don't go anywhere nowadays without four lines." DeBoer lost trust in his fourth line after Chris Tierney commit- ted the trio's sixth minor pen- alty in five periods with less than two minutes to play in the second frame of Game 3, draw- ing a faceoff violation infraction after attempting a glove pass in the circle. THESCORE Staff Report RED BLUFF The Los Molinos and Mercy high school golf teams played in a Five Star League tour- nament Monday at Wilcox Oaks Golf Club. Because no school fielded a full team of six golfers, there were no team scores that qualified. The top round of the day was turned in by Shane Rhodes of Mercy, who shot an 89. Megan Reelander shot a 107, Spencer Flynn a 110 and Junior Grace a 112. Perry Mathues and Tanner Prest tied for the best Los Moli- nos round at 101. Kyle Wood shot a 135 and Jasael Ruiz a 141. Rhodes beat out Paradise Ad- ventist's Kevin Cummings, who shot a 90. The next lowest round of an out-of-county golfer was from Redding Christian's Cody Beaumont with a 114. Other participating schools in- cluded CORE Butte and Loyalton. Liberty Christian wasn't repre- sented. Los Molinos still leads the standings, which were un- changed, with 18 points ahead of Redding Christian with five. The next scheduled match is set for 1 p.m. Monday at Bidwell Golf Course in Chico. The Division III Section Cham- pionships will be held at Plumas Pines Golf Course on May 9-10. GOLF LM a nd Mercy play to ur ne y at Wilcox By John Hickey Bay Area News Group NEWYORK Mark Canha's second hit of the season couldn't have come at a better time for him or for the Oakland A's as he delivered a 3-2, 11-inning win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. Canha has played in just one of the A's previous nine games and was just 1-for-12 for the season when he picked on an 0-2 pitch from Yankees' reliever Johnny Barbato and singled off the glove of diving shortstop Didi Grego- rius to bring home Jed Lowrie. Lowrie had a huge night with four hits, the last of which was a one-out double in the 11th that set up Canha's game-winner. The pitching win went to Fer- nando Rodriguez, who threw two scoreless innings and Ryan Mad- son added a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out the A's third consecutive win.
