The Duck call Page 4 T he spring semester is in full swing and the Missouri Chapter has been hard at work with activities ranging from recruitment to philanthropic events. We are excited to continue working toward our goals throughout the rest of the semester and beyond. Spring Recruitment a Success Thirteen new associate members were welcomed into the chapter at our parent orientation and pinning ceremony on Saturday, February 6. The average high school GPA of the group is 3.59. The average ACT score is 27.16 versus the university average of 26. We are excited to see our associate members flourish in DU. Farmer Academic Award The 12th annual Farmer Award was presented to Jacob Cebulko '19 on February 6. The award recognizes the associate member with the highest GPA for the fall semester. Jacob, who earned a 4.0 GPA, was awarded a plaque and a check for $500. In attendance were Shirley and Jay Farmer, the parents of Randal Farmer '79, for whom the award is named. Leadership Academy Delta Upsilon International Fraternity hosts a President's Academy each year for new chapter presidents. The program provides leadership development and skills training to prepare presidents to effectively run a DU chapter. I was honored to attend this year's session in Indianapolis, Ind., January 7-10. I also attended the Greek Life president's retreat the weekend of January 15. Chapter Advisor Jeff Kreutz '99 and House Director Martin Cram organized a retreat in Kansas City for a dozen or so undergraduate members the weekend of January 30-31. The highlight of the weekend was a team building event at KC Escape. The executive board attended the DUIF Regional Leadership Academy in Kansas City on February 18-20. The academy is a unique opportunity for chapter officers in a specific geographic region to attend sessions that span a wide range of topics affecting Fraternity life today. It is designed as an officer training platform to provide tangible skills needed for success. Greek Week This year we will be attempting to repeat as overall Greek Week champions. On February 17, it was announced that we would be paired with FarmHouse and Delta Gamma for this year's event, which ran from April 3-17. During this period of time, Greek students participate in programs and events that celebrate the values of the Office of Greek Life and promote a fun environment, highlighting the talents and dedication of the Greek community to both Columbia and MU. Greek Week benefits local and national organizations that are in need of funding. Last year, more than $75,000 was raised for a variety of worthy beneficiaries. Other spring events included initiation on April 10 and Mom's Weekend/Mizzou's spring football game on April 16. Thank you, alumni, for your continued support. Please stop by the chapter house any time you are in Columbia.
