Maryann Gilfillan Carlton '40 met her first husband, Herman, at USC and was married in 1942. They had four children and 17 grandchildren. Herman passed away in 1974. Maryann remarried in 1981 to her husband, Charles. They had no children, but she now has 42 great-grandchildren and more than 80 members of the family total. Maryann celebrated her 94th birthday in September and lives in Oceanside, Calif., to be closer to family. Jeanne Kilian '42 lives in Morningside, Calif., with her husband, Joseph. "There are a lot of Pi Phi alumnae in Morningside. Betty Lou Stone Rollo '39 is here. She initiated me in 1942 and we hadn't seen each other since she left after graduation. I have 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. I have a happy life." Three years ago, she moved to a retirement facility and loves it. One of her granddaughters is a Pi Phi at LMU. Mildred's other daughter and son-in-law live near Seattle, where she visits frequently. Carla and her husband, Cole, have three daughters: Catherine, Christie, and Camille. One is a Pi Phi and another is a Kappa. She hopes her youngest (still in high school) will eventually join the Wine and Silver Blue!
