Garcia graduated from the Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data Systems Spe- cialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. As members of the Army's field artillery team, the course is designed to train soldiers as specialists to operate the advanced field artillery tactical data systems for both cannon and multiple launch rocket systems. The specialists play a critical role in the safe, accurate, and lethal delivery of the field artillery's various fire support systems used to support infantry and tank units in combat. Skills training included methods of com- puting target locations using computers or manual cal- culations, ammunition handling techniques, and operat- ing and performing maintenance on related equipment, vehicles, generators, and artillery tactical and data sys- tems. Garcia is the grandson of Betty R. and Ramone Upon the wall in my dining room is one of most treasured paintings I have. The painting is that of a two story building located at……….. in Red Bluff. The house was at one time the home occupied by former ministers of the Red Bluff Christian Church. Pastor Ralph Isacson and his wife Bunny lived in the home for the years they served the Christian Church. Each day I look at it and recall the years I spent with at the Christian Church as a child and young woman. Libby w, the artist who painted the manse was one of the most wonderful people I have had the privilege to meet and form a friendship with. Libby Coates crossed my path so very many times. She was a wonder- ful friend who was kind and loving to everyone she met. Libby, a great artist and a great friend to all who knew her. Just last Fall, Libby and I walked together part way from Mineral toward the summit on the way to Mill Creek. We then got into my car and continued on to the summit where we met Gene Serr who had accom- plished his whole walk to the summit. Psalm 121:6 Red Bluff teen gets dance opportunity Joseph Upton-Howarth, 15, a sophomore at Red Bluff Union High School was accepted into the California State Summer School for the Arts dance pro- gram in Los Angeles. Participants were chosen from audition videos sent in by the end of February. Upton-Howarth was notified the first week of May that his audition garnered him a spot in the program. He started dancing at Dance Red Bluff three years ago, said his mother Sally. He prefers bal- let, modern and contemporary, but also tries other styles. Upton-Howarth also partici- pates in choir and theater at school, but most of his friends and teachers don't even know he got accepted into the summer program. Dancing is his passion, his mother said. He asked for hard- wood floors in his bedroom so he could practice. "Everything leads to dance," she said. However, his back-up plan is becoming a chemist, she said. The 15-year-old is enrolled in all college-track classes.
