Ave., Quartzsite (corner of Moon Mt. & Quail Trail) Dear Friends, Due to the upcoming ROAD CONSTRUCTION on Moon Mountain Ave. We will be closing APRIL 5 thru MAY 11. We apologize for any inconvenience. We hope to see you when we resume our Summer Business Hours! by Joanne Winer It's starting to get hotter now, and we have been planning a work session to get some of the Hero's Area started before everyone goes home for the summer or it gets too hot to work. The Hero's Area is a place in the Gardens next to the Rock and Gem pavilion area. It will have a huge circular area, raked already, with a pile of rocks and cactus in the center bed where an archway will be built to house two iron bells. The idea of this area is to honor and respect our first responders who put their lives on the line for us every day, many of whom have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. This area started out as a place to remember 9/11, but has been expanded to include the Yar- nell 19 Hot Shot firefighters who died over two years ago in that horrible wildfire in the Yarnell area. There will also be places to honor the Fire Dept., Search and Rescue, BLM, Police Dept., DPS, other law enforcement and government rangers, etc. The center bed will have the arch, and there will be a walkway around the center -wide enough for many people- with benches along the edges between the honored groups. This will all be surrounded by landscaping and more rocks. When finished, we will be able to hold spe- cial ceremonies on 9/11, or any other date when needed. It will also give a place for people to just feel peaceful and thankful for those who do so much for our communities and our country. We are hoping to get at least the archway and bells hung, and some of the center bed rock 1090 W. I wish everyone the most awesome summer! Sea Ya all October 1st, 2016! Let's make new memories until then... MeMe To all my customers- Snowbirds & Residents... Grant Project scheduled to take approximately three months to complete The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will improve North Moon Mountain Avenue, Kofa Avenue, and near the Ed Op- tions Learning Center on behalf of the Town of Quartzsite, for the joint project Administration of the Safe Routes to School Project grant of $396,100. Work consists of milling and paving North Moon Mountain Avenue between Main Street and Quail Trail Street; a temporary road closure will take place while the work is completed. Business and residential access will be main- tained. Work on Moon Mountain Ave. is sched- uled Monday, April 4 - May 11. Mountain Quail Cafe will be closed during construction and reopen at 7am May 12. Crews are scheduled to work weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additional work includes constructing pathways and sidewalks, replacing pavement markings and other miscellaneous work. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a pos- sibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. For more information visit http:// www.azdot.gov. garden in and the patio area raked before the hot weather comes. We could sure use some vol- unteers to help get this project at least that far, until everyone comes back in the fall. If you have any time at all to spare, and can come out to the work session to help, it will surely be appreciated. The work session will be held on Tuesday, April 12, and will start at 9 a.m. (weather permitting) until probably noon- -you don't have to be there the whole time, just what time you can spare. If that is not a good day for you, call me and I can let you know what needs to be done and you can go out any- time you wish to help. The Town workers will be helping get the archway ready and planted as well, so mostly we need people who can move small rocks, rake areas flat, etc. If you have your own rakes and shovels, bring them along with some heavy gloves and lots of water. For more information, call me at 928-927-6551. Your help will be greatly appreciated! Celia's Rainbow Gardens plans work session for Hero's Area Safe Routes to School road improvements
