The softball team has been participating in tourna- ments. Coach Schuldt is proud of the team's improvement and fi- nally coming together as a team. On April 1st the baseball and soft- ball will have a game at Santa Cruz Valley on April 5th, and another game at San Pasqual on the 12th. The softball team also have a game against Gilbert Classical on the 7th and another at Antelope Union on the 14th. The athletes of track are feeling really confident for their up- coming track meets. There will be a track meet on April 6 at Bourgade, one at Phoenix Christian Multi on the 8th, and on the 15th they will be at Wrangler Invitational. A member of the Lions Clubs, An- nie Irwin,donated a quilt to FBLA. They sold tickets and made a quite a bit of money and on Friday they will announce the lucky winner. They will also be going to State Convention on April 4. The March for Dimes event will be coming to an end, so FBLA will be going to Phoenix for the March of Dimes on April 9th. For NHS, applications are turned in and students will be selected. Induction will be on April 13 at 6 o'clock. On April 30th, Stu- dent Council will be going to the AASC Diamondbacks game. The Teacher of the Year Ban- quet is coming up on April 18th. The food will be prepared by Ms. Dihel's culinary class. Students are invited to attend Leadership Conference at Grand Canyon Uni- versity on the 29th. Students will be taking a few tests.The AZMerit is the end of April and the AIMS Science on April 20th. Before tak- ing those tests, students are asking their dates to attend prom! Prom will be on the 16th. This year six students from this school were in the 2016 AZ Scho- lastic Art and Writing Awards hon- orees. Emily Carnevale, Esme Cruz, Ezekiel Palma, Rene Soqui, Ve- ronica Stender, and Thomas Lard. These talented young students were up against larger schools in the state and received awards! Public invited to review and comment during scoping period for Ten West Link Project in Arizona and California PHOENIX – On March 23, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) for a proposed electrical transmission line between Maricopa and La Paz Counties, Arizona, and Riverside County, California. The notice of intent opens a 45-day scoping period, during which the public has the opportunity to iden- tify issues that should be considered in the EIS. The scoping period ends 45 days after publication of the Fed- eral Register. The 45-day period ends on Monday, May 9, 2016. The proposed project is the Ten West Link 500-kilovolt Transmis- sion Line. It is a joint project of Abengoa Transmission & Infrastruc- ture, LLC, and Starwood Energy Group Global, Inc. Together they have formed DCR Transmission, LLC, which is the company propos- ing to build the transmission line. The proposal is to build a transmis- sion line from Tonopah, Arizona, to Blythe, California. It would span 114 miles, with 83 miles of it on public lands managed by the BLM. All but 17 miles of the line would be in the Arizona counties of Maricopa and La Paz. As part of the scoping process, the BLM will hold public meetings on these dates at these locations.
