However, making news here in "radio-land" is a different kind of culture — a new one that, after years in the making, is just now being heard across the airwaves, one station at a time. It's not just any culture — it's a culture seeking to radically affect change in the hearts of every believer. It's Jesus Culture. What began in 1999 as a conference for the youth group of a Bethel Church in Redding, Calif., has morphed into a different movement: Jesus Culture — a band, widely known as a front-runner in modern worship music. It's a community of worship leaders and musicians whose heart is to "see a generation impacted by encounters with the presence of God through worship and discipleship." Jesus Culture recorded their first album in 2005 at their youth and young adult conference in Redding, Calif., releasing nine annual live albums since then and over 20 solo artist albums. They lead worship at their local church in Sacramento, and across the globe through conference events and worldwide tours. Jesus Culture has sold more than one million albums worldwide since their debut project in 2005 and garnered more than 3.8 million followers on social media and over 34.5 million views on YouTube. Sounds like a big deal right? They don't use the word "culture" lightly — it's definitely a movement. If you're active in a local church, you've more than likely heard their music in a church service, through a friend or covered by another contemporary Christian artist. But now, after 10 years of making music, they've brought their music to radio — and we all wonder why they didn't do it sooner. Their first radio single, "Fierce," released only a few weeks ago, is a story of God's fierce love – a declaration of who he is and what that means for his children. You cannot fail, the only thing I've found Is through it all you never let me down You don't hold back, relentless in pursuit And every turn I come face to face with you Like a tidal wave crashing over me Rushing in to meet me here Your love is fierce! Like a hurricane that I can't escape Tearing through the atmosphere Your love is fierce! It's because of this fierce love that they do what they do — make music that seeps deep into the heart of the listener, hoping this message will transcend any cultural differences, division, and ways of life, uniting every believer, no matter how different inside or out, with one purpose — to give glory, honor and praise to Jesus Christ. This creates a new culture: It's Jesus Culture. Impacting Now: Jesus Culture by LAURA BOARTS Jesus Culture LAURA BOARTS, Christian 107.3 WCLN Music Director. COMMENTS?
