ByJulieZeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF The State Theatre was packed Friday evening with few open seats for the U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors. "Welcome to the beautiful State Theatre," said State The- atre for the Arts Vice President Bill Cornelius. "Tonight's con- cert would not have been pos- sible without the hard work of three outstanding organizations that have served Tehama County for decades: The Tehama Concert Series who worked closely with the U. S. Army to bring us to- night's presentation, managing the ticket distribution and pre- paring for this evening's pro- gram; The Rotary Club of Red Bluff whose donation covered LOCAL EVENT USArmy Field Band's Jazz packs State Theatre By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF After much debate and two weeks of appearing be- fore the Tehama County Board of Supervisors, a decision was made at the March 22 meeting to pro- ceed with audio upgrades only to the supervisor's meeting cham- ber. The board had been consid- ering the possibility of upgrad- ing the system that allows those not present to follow along at the regular meetings and including a live-streaming video option. Questions about whether audio and visual options would both be available halted the progress the week prior. If the board had voted to get cameras and live stream video, there would not be an option for those who have slower Inter- net speeds to listen to the audio, TEHAMA COUNTY Su pe s vo te to upgrade au di o fo r chamber By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter LOSMOLINOS Weather was brisk but sunny Saturday morning for the annual Los Molinos Volunteer Fire Department Easter Egg Hunt at Mill Creek Park. The group has been hosting the event for a number of years, start- ing in the 1970s, bringing it back after an absence about 15 years ago, said Chief Jeanine Hart, who first got involved with the hunt in her younger years with sev- eral family members in the de- partment. "I was born and raised here and we did it when I grew up," Hart said. "It's grown a lot over the years. Our department is very family oriented so it's very impor- tant to us to keep it going." Volunteers arrived as early as 8 a.m. for the hunt, which started two hours later, to rope off the various areas for different age groups and hide the approx- imately 6,000 eggs, she said. The group held a pizza party work day to stuff them with donations of candy from Nu-Way Market and help from Walmart in getting the eggs at a reasonable cost. JULIE ZEEB — DAILY NEWS By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF The Gold Country CuttingHorseAssociationSpring Spectacular brought about 250- 300 people to the Tehama Dis- trict Fairground Friday through Sunday. After much discussion of po- tentially moving the second-year eventtotheSacramentoarea, the board decided to bring it back to Red Bluff because of the great ex- perience the group had the year prior, President Jim Tilton said. "The reason we decided to stay was because the town of Red Bluff stood up to support us so well last year, how could we not support them," Tilton said. "We also had a very favorable re- sponse amongst the cutters that it was a quality show." In its first year, the event, which while hosted by the Gold Country association is both a Na- tional Cutting Horse Association and Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association approved event, drew roughly the same number withpeoplecomingfromOregon, Idaho,MontanaandWashington, Tilton said. While the numbers of those from farther away were down, there was the same num- ber of people coming to the event from throughout California and Nevada in spite of a conflicting event in Idaho, which shows its reputation is growing, he said. The organization is looking to change dates next year so as to not conflict with the Idaho event or be on top of Easter. "We hope to build this show up and attract people from all over the West Coast and Western United State," Tilton said. "We're hoping it will be a big event that becomes something that when people plan their schedule of shows they put it down as a show not to be missed." It's been fun forming the partnerships with the city of Red Bluff, the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce and the fairboard as well as the local businesses, such as Comfort Inn who donated $1,000 worth of rooms to the group. There has also been a tremendous response fromthecommunityindonations toward the money for an added pot for winners that starts with a portion of the entry fees.
