Real estate professionals from all over the North State attended the event, aimed at educating agents on the most current events in this complicated real estate market. Topics cov- ered regional market fore- casts, short sale twists and turns and new legal issues. Members from the Realtor associations of Tehama, Shasta, Plumas, Chico, Par- adise and Oroville were in attendance. & Realtors host education expo Farmers markets start Friday The California Associa- tion of Realtors (CAR) pro- vided speakers and other speakers not associated with CAR donated their time to the event. North State ven- dors whose products and services are used by buyers, sellers and real estate agents were present to answer questions. Vendor space fees and lunch ticket sales funded the event. TCAOR Education Committee Chairman Dave Lapierre said he was pleased with the attendance and grateful for the time given by the speakers. "It took five months of work to plan and put every- thing in place," he said. "The event has great future potential." 2012 Farmers Market ers Markets will be part of the EBT Program (Electronic Benefits Transfer Program). Orga- nizers are confident that this addition to the Farmers Markets will help growers increase their sales. The extra staff time to administer the EBT Program, as well as continual train- ing and upgrades to the Certified Farmers Market, necessitated the increase of Registration and Daily Rental fees. Registration for the Farmers Market Season will be $50. Late Registration starts May 31, and the fee is $75. Applications must be turned in with a copy of your Certi- fied Producer's Certificate from the Ag Department if you are a farmer, and Clearance from Environmental Health if you are selling baked and cooked goods. Saturday Morning Markets start June 2 and continue through Sept. 29. Local farmers will host a weekend of wine tasting and farm-fresh food sampling at the first Tehama Trail Passport Weekend. The Passport Week- end will be a chance for visitors to tour 17 farms/winer- ies currently on the Tehama Trail Map. All of the farms will open their doors on Passport weekend, even those who are normally open by appointment only. Tehama Trail Passport Weekend tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 after Friday June 10, and include free tasting at all farms. All proceeds go to ben- efit the Tehama Trail association to further develop agri-tourism in Tehama County. Tickets can be pur- chased at all participating farms and the Tehama Coun- ty Farm Bureau. The Tehama Trail Passport Weekend will feature 17 partners: Alger Vineyard, Bianchi Orchards, Burlison Fruit Stand, Cedar Crest Vineyards, Country Haven at the Red Barn, Indian Peak Vineyards, Julia's Fruit Stand, Lim Huli Lavender, Lucero Olive Oil, Mt. There is a minimal one time registration fee of $15 and $5 a week for fresh produce, $10 for processed, manufactured or craft, $15 for food vendors and $5 for youth/organizations. • Learn to Fly – This Saturday, local pilots and mem- bers of the North Valley Flyers, (EAA, Chapter 1148), will be hosting Eagle Flights at the Corning Airport. These are free flights for youth 8 to 17 years of age. The purpose is to introduce them and their family to flight, general aviation and their local airport. There will be several static displays relating to aviation. Kids bring your parent or guardian and come for the "Learn to Fly Day". There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 -11 a.m., and you can sign up for your Young Eagle ride offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You will learn how air- planes fly, check out the local airplanes on the field, fly free and get a Young Eagle certificate and photo.
