Emergency Services Heads County Manager James Martin has named Randy Beeman as Cumberland County's new Emergency Services Director and Jeffery Brown as the new director of Infrastructure and Engineering. Beeman replaces Kenny Currie, who retired April 1 after 28 years with the county. Brown replaces Robert Stanger, who retired May 1 after 30 years with the county.
Beeman earned a business administration degree from East Carolina University in 1980. He has 30 years experience in local government and the private sector. He was the Hope Mills town manager from May 2007 until January 2012. Prior to that, he was the town manager in River Bend for years. He was the Pamlico County Tax Administrator for 15 years and has worked as an accountant and auditor in the private sector. Brown graduated from Midway High School

Fort Bragg and the City of Fayetteville, will host StormFest 2012 on May 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. The public is invited to the second annual StormFest to learn about disaster preparedness and severe weather. There will be demonstrations, displays and information booths. Admission is free.
