page 3 Alpha Xi Delta Our executive team, new member orientation chairman, and a member-at-large traveled to Lincoln, Neb., for area-wide training. O ur chapter has been doing great things this semester. Our new executive officers have jumped fully into their positions. We have switched our AmaXing Challenge philanthropy event from Xi Man to Football FrenXi. We also started spring recruitment and have already pledged 11 women! PHILANTHROPY Last October, 14 members volunteered at the Avera NICU's grand opening. In November, the chapter hosted our annual chili feed and raised nearly $4,500 for Autism Speaks, Alpha Xi Delta's national philanthropy. Throughout the semester, we also fundraised by selling programs at USD athletic events, adding $505 to our support for Autism Speaks. In one semester, we raised over $5,000 for Autism Speaks, and we contributed 3,146 hours of philanthropy. "Philanthropy is one of my favorite pillars of sisterhood because we are able to make a big difference in so many lives," says Alanna Schmeichel '15, philanthropy vice president. MEMBERSHIP The 2016 spring pledge class has reached 11 women; however, we are still in our open recruitment process. "We are welcoming high- quality members who are presenting Epsilon in a positive light! There are some changes taking place in the Panhellenic community that will affect recruitment; we support these changes and are excited for the transition," says Ashley Meiners '15, membership vice president. CHAPTER ACTIVITIES We paired with Phi Delta Theta and Beta Theta Pi for the Strollers Show at the end of February. Our Alpha Xi-Beta team won the Alpha Phi Hoops for Heart tournament in January during Alpha Phi's Red Week in support of women's heart health. At the end of January, the new executive team, including chapter advisors Annie Miller '10 and Kayla Gengler-Schroeder '09, attended the area-wide training at the Rho Chapter in Lincoln, Nebraska. This was beneficial for our ladies, and they were able to share their sisterhood with the women from the SDSU, Lincoln, Kearney, and Omaha chapters. MEMBER ACTIVITIES We have many women who are leaders in different organizations. The President of Panhellenic Council is an Alpha Xi Delta, and we have two members on the executive committee of Dakota Days, two women on the executive committee of Coyote Crazies, and two members on the executive committee for Relay for Life. These are just a few of the organizations our sisters are involved in. INTRAMURALS The Alpha Xi and Phi Delta Theta co-ed flag football team won the championship for intramurals this fall. We have already started to put together volleyball and softball teams for later in the semester. In the upcoming weeks, we will be competing for the Greek League Championship in the Dakota Dome. The winner will receive a donation from USD Athletics to go toward the philanthropy of their choice. ALUMNAE "We look forward to seeing our alumnae at our Founders' Day celebration this spring. We hope to get them more involved in the chapter this year and schedule a sisterhood event with them so they can share experiences from their time at Epsilon. We are extremely grateful for their continuous support. Our chapter has grown tremendously in numbers and in sisterhood. We would not be where we are today without the assistance and encouragement from our alumnae," says Alysa Georgopoulos '14. We want to thank the alumnae for all your support and also extend an open invitation to come by the house whenever you want to visit. We love meeting the great alumnae of this chapter!
