Alpha Beta Centennial CE LE B R A T I N G O U R P A S T S E C U RI N G O U R F U T U R E 1918 2018 Alpha Chi Omega at Purdue University W hen we look back at our own Alpha Chi Omega experience, we can see how the friendships, leadership, and service— even decades ago—helped shape who we are today. We are thankful for our close friendships with Alpha Beta sisters, for the leadership development that helped us become successful community members, and for the numerous opportunities gained through our Alpha Chi Omega membership. We still remember, as we're sure you do, the great times we had together at the chapter house and the memories we created. CHAPTER HOUSE NEEDS UPDATED Our chapter house at 851 David Ross Road in the Tower Acres was built in 1964-65; it has been part of Alpha Beta's legacy for more than 50 years and has been a home away from home for hundreds of women. And while many updates have been completed over the years—including the installation of a new fire suppression system, central air conditioning, and a remodel of our formal living room, parlor, and library in 2013— much like your personal home, our chapter house must continue to be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. If we expect to maintain the membership standards that are close to our Alpha Chi hearts—academic interest, character, financial responsibility, leadership, and personal development—then Alpha Beta needs to provide a quality living environment that will foster academic excellence and strengthen the bonds of our sisterhood. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED Given these immediate needs, the Alpha Chi Omega Home Corporation Board, capital campaign committee of 13 alumnae from all eras, and the undergraduate members of Alpha Beta are proud to announce the Alpha Beta Centennial—Celebrating Our Past, Securing Our Future capital campaign to secure our continued success at Purdue University. Through careful study, assessment, and planning, it was determined that a $1 million renovation to our house was the most cost-effective option to ensure that the facility meets the needs of today's students and remains competitive on campus. ALUMNAE SUPPORT NEEDED Early commitments from 62 generous alumnae, undergraduates, and friends total more than $480,000. This is a great start, but we need your help to reach our campaign goal of $1 million. This is the time to remember your Alpha Beta experience. Remember what impact Alpha Chi Omega had on you, and think about how your life has been affected by your membership and your sisters. It is only through the lifelong bonds of Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood that future generations may share the same experience. We need you now more than ever to help propel us into the next 100 years of Alpha Chi Omega at Purdue University! RENOVATED HOUSE HIGHLIGHTS In the updated Alpha Beta chapter house, we will provide our members with a modernized facility that will help our chapter maintain a competitive edge on campus while creating a safe home—a home that all alumnae can be proud to call their own. KJG Architecture, who is based in West Lafayette, has worked closely with the Home Corporation Board to develop a strategic approach to update our facility. Some of the new highlights are: • Complete renovation of the basement common area, dining room, kitchen serving area, library, rear patio, front atrium, Carnation bathroom, guest bathrooms, and executive office • Upgrade technology of the security system to provide increased safety for members • Safety updates to the exterior of the house • Affixing our ACW letters to the front of the house to increase marketing and branding for Alpha Beta Chapter Alpha Beta Chapter Announces $1 Million Capital Campaign Plans to Renovate Chapter House Underway, Nearly Half a Million Committed (Continued on page 2) The renovated basement common area and dining room are just a few of the many highlights that will be completed as part of the campaign.
