IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY PAGE 3 T he fall semester has been nothing short of eventful. Gamma Upsilon has continued to build momentum in every aspect of operations, demonstrating our newly found potential and reflecting it upon the Greek community, the university, and our national fraternity. AcAdemics on the Rise One of our biggest and most valuable improvements is our academics. With the hard work of 2015 Scholarship Chairman Andrew Wilson '14, our scholarship program has proven effective and beneficial. For fall 2015, our chapter's cumulative GPA resulted in a 2.96. This is an improvement of .21 from the previous semester's GPA of 2.75; a huge feat for our chapter that will serve as motivation as our current scholarship chairman, Charlie Scales '15, leads us to further success. Good PR foR ATW Our 2015 social chairman, Drew Cubit '15, helped revive this position back to importance. Planning and executing roughly a dozen social, mixer, and collaborative events within the year, Gamma Upsilon has built strong, lasting ties with various sorority and fraternity chapters at Iowa State. The revamping of all social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) has allowed Gamma Upsilon to showcase our good works and bring in positive publicity. Social/ Public Relations Chairman Trevor Ferguson '16 is in the process of constructing a new chapter website. RecRuitment GoAls set foR summeR Our new recruitment program and officers look forward to continuing our rapid growth by recruiting men of merit throughout the summer break. With a new 2016 spring class of 12 gentlemen, our new recruitment chairmen have demonstrated their chemistry and work ethic right off the bat. We are expecting high numbers for the fall semester and look forward to continuing our expansion and building our brotherhood. success with dAnce mARAthon This year, Alpha Tau Omega demonstrated its philanthropic strength by raising $11,015 for the University of Iowa Children's Miracle Hospital. The brand-new award category, Greek Miracle Cup, is divided into three separate awards: Top Fundraising Sorority, Top Fundraising Fraternity, and Top Fundraising Greek Chapter. Alpha Tau Omega won two of these three awards (Top Fraternity and Top Greek Chapter), carrying on the reputation and greatly supporting the wonderful children of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Additionally, approximately 50 percent of the chapter's members were present during this event, making us the largest team to participate in a single night. We would like to extend a special thank-you to those alumni who supported us and donated to our cause. Join us foR GReek week We are excited to be paired with Alpha Chi Omega and Beta Sigma Psi for Greek Week this year. This also marks our return as a "big house," since it has been a handful of years since we've obtained enough members to classify as such. Leading our pairing to success is our mission, and with the strong leadership from our co-chairmen, Mitch Jecklin '15, Nick Sabin '16, Jon Pevonka '11, Jordan Littman '15, and Matt Kelly '15, this mission is within reach. Greek Week officially begins on March 27 and ends April 3. If you are nearby, feel free to join the fun and help support us as we take on another Greek Week and bring home the gold!
